Bullseye (The Monsters Within Duet #1)

My story doesnt end with Prince Charming saving the princess and living happily ever after with her becauseI killed the f***ing prince. Bull Every single book I read by Monica James leaves me on the edge of my seat. I devour the book, and in the process, I think I slowly lose my mind (in a great way). This is a book that you cant help but fall for the villain, and you cant help but be rooting for him to succeed. Bullseye is book one in the Monsters Within duet and Im telling you book two cant get here fast enough. I thought she threw me for a loop in her All the Pretty Things trilogy, but I was dead wrong. This book will have you begging for more, and just when you think you have something figured out, you find out you dont know what you thought you knew. Monica James has a way of writing that makes you feel like youre a part of the story. I feel like she also throws all of your ideas for how you would handle things out the window. You know what is happening isnt necessarily right, but youre still okay with it happening because you know it has to. Its weirdest but yet the best thing about her books. Bullseye is the definitely in my top reads of 2020 and its only February. Bring on book two!

In all fairness, it DOES say Book 1. I just wasnt paying attention. Anyway, Cody Bishop, aka: Bullseye is released on parole after 12 years in prison and plots revenge for his brothers murder. Plagued with guilt and a death wish, he meticulously hunts for his brothers murderers, discarding anyone who gets in his way. This author conveyed Bulls stunted, emotionless drive to exact his plot of revenge nicely. But the problem was she drew it out for so long it became boring. I mean, how long does it take to extort revenge? Not two books! It was a whole lot going on but nothing happening…until the end. She hovers throughout the ENTIRE BOOK, with bits of Lily throwing herself at him and he ignoring her, mostly (for her own good because…hey, he cant be distracted). And then, kaBAM! rushes the last two chapters. And I gotta read more of the same Why wont he look at me and gotta stay away from her for her own good, in another book? Thanks but its not that interesting. Admired single mom, Lilys work ethic though. She stays strong despite her struggles….driven to provide for her ungrateful child in any way she could.

Wow! This was quite the dark, raw, sexy and a masterpiece. I was captivated by the characters from the start. Bulls (Cody) motivations were clear from the beginning. Anyone that spent that long in jail had plenty of time to plot his revenge. What I loved reading is how he at times struggled with his own conscience. I have no doubt that Monica James has more in store for us in the second book. Nothing and no one is ever that straightforward. Lily (Tiger) was always abandoned, or so she thought. She had issues as a result and always distance herself from men until Bull. She was strong, determined and a fighter. I loved her so much for it. Bullseye showed that she has the ability to overcome a great deal. The question is will she be able to manage now that all is out in the open. I cant wait to see what happens in book 2. I already know to prepare myself for more secrets to be uncovered, plot twists and to be totally shocked. Monica James never fails to deliver. I cant wait for book 2!!!

I\’ve had this book downloaded on my kindle for ages, or so it seems and I\’m not sure why I waited so long to read this story. Oh my word, this story almost turned me inside out, the suspense was seriously ramped up in parts and I didn\’t know if I should keep reading or duck down and hide. Guess the fear factor is real for this gal. There is so much happening in this story, so many players or maybe they\’re threats but it\’s that underlining budding romance between Bull and Tiger that hooked me right from the start. I\’m anxious to see what these two will have to go through to be together.

Two wrongs dont make a right. In true style Monica James has delivered a truely phenomenal read with book one of The Monsters Within duet, Bullseye. I almost thought I had this figured out, until I didnt. Every step of the way I was put on my toes, every heartbeat for Bull or Tiger only intensified and when I got to the end, well I cant tell you that 😉 All it took was twelve long years for Bull to get what he deemed necessary – revenge. However lifes not always as simple as just making a plan. Theres always something more. Ive thoroughly enjoyed this journey so far. Its got the right amount of light to the dark to breeze through without hesitation. Although it felt like forever to get to the end (in a positive way) the build up was worth it and got the reaction I can only imagine Monica was aiming for. Bring on part two!! I recommend this.
