The author of the previous twenty-two books i.e Lee Child never hired another writer for help in the series but Karin Slaughter is here in this book. Novels other than this were detailed and for a short story type thing, Lee needed a helping hand. Jeff Harding also gets the assistance of Eric Jason Martin in narration.
Everything is double this time if we compare it to The Midnight Line and The Christmas Scorpion. Even inaction Jack shares action with Will Trent who is the second hero in the story. Jack Reacher has been following a group of criminals for a very long year and now he is between them. Problem is that Trent wants to arrest Reacher on account of a murder. The twenty-two years old boy got killed a few days earlier and Jack Reacher is supposed to be the murderer.

Both heroes are hunting each other which will make the job of the enemy very easy. If one of them is killed in the process it would be easy to kill the remaining one. Jack and Trent understand the game quickly and plan to join hands for survival which looks impossible if they stand alone.
Enemies are on the run when these two join hands, unity between these professional looks to be temporary because they have their scores to settle with each other. Everything is doubled this time so it is twice more fun than any common novel of the Jack Reacher series. Mysteries and hidden truths don’t come into play in this brief little story. Action and some temporary friendship are seen in the story which could end at any time.
