This is a really really reeeally great second chances romance between a hero and heroine who had forged a soul-mate connection through Kindergarten roots, become inseparable childhood friends, had first times and dreamed of forever times. Rhett is one sexy as Hell sa..woooonworthy cowboy from Heaven Texas, he’s at the very top of his career living his dream as a world-class professional bull rider and he’s got fame, wealth, women and a carefree life dedicated to the PBR circuit.. but he’s also got a broken heart. Just as he was taking his first tentative steps towards his dreams his girlfriend Monroe (aka Mo) shattered his heart.. and, for six long years, they hurt in silence, they avoided one another and their lives went on.. without each other. Now an injury from a bull called Lucifer has forced him home for a while.. and that ride was a way for Fate and Destiny to step in.. it will give an opportunity for the truth to come out.. it will devastate all over again.. it will change lives and Lucifer will be ridden again. Worth a credit? Yes.. the Duet style dual POV narration by Wen and Kai was awesome and they brought these characters to life.. you feel the chemistry, the hurt and heartache, the regrets, the emotional dilemmas and the deep romantic feelings they share. This is K.L. Grayson’s riveting and emotional introduction to Dirty Dicks, Heaven Texas.. and it’s a painful, bitter-sweet, angsty, romantic, touching, sexy and beautiful one. It’s true love’s dreams turning to ashes.. and it’s second chances that are slowly forged from those ashes.

Overall 3 stars Performance 4.5 stars Story 2.5-3 stars I really love second chance romances (especially childhood friends to lovers), but this one just didn\’t quite hook me the way that I\’d hoped. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were fantastic however, and I loved all the emotion and feeling they put into these characters. The duet style was amazing, especially for the more heated scenes. Even though I had some issues with the decisions the characters made/were making, I couldn\’t wait to find out how Mo and Rhett\’s story was going to end. I also really loved Mo\’s relationship with her father and some of those scenes had me reaching for a tissue to dry my eyes. I think the biggest issue for me, is that I found myself more frustrated and annoyed at Rhett and Mo for their lack of communication than in love with them. So much heartbreak could have been avoided with some honesty and a conversation. I understand that they were young and that young love is often all consuming and explosive, but I still found it hard to believe that they wouldn\’t have fought a little harder to at least have closure/tried to reach out to the other in the 6 years that they\’ve been apart. I also had a hard time with Mo essentially groveling and begging for Rhett\’s forgiveness. Mistakes were made by both of them, but it was Rhett who got angry and acted like he was the only one who had been wronged. Add in the fact that Rhett enjoyed all the buckle bunnies he wanted while Mo abstained completely, and I just had a hard time believing in their love. I did like that as the story progressed, both characters grew and matured. Mo started thinking about her dreams and how to go after them, while Rhett stopped only thinking of himself/acting selfish. Overall, this was an enjoyable listen and I liked it enough to want to continue on with the series.

This was such a great story about second chance romance. And you get to visit Heaven, Texas again. Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott did an excellent job of portraying the many different characters in this book, each voice was different and the emotional roller coaster that this story had in it made me cry at times because when you listened to the way the characters were hurt you couldn’t help but cry along with them. After the feeling of being lied to Rhett was able to forgive Mo and they were able to rediscover their love for one another and in the end everyone got there dreams to come true and there happily ever after. I look forward to the next story and hope that if there is one that this narration duet gets to perform that one as well. I would recommend this audiobook to the fans of second chance Romances and fans of the Author and narrators.

The story was pretty good up until the ultimatum from Rhett. That whole situation was handled so immaturely. They could have just talked. And Rhett was deliberately not telling her how he felt about her for what? It seems like emotional manipulation and that is really crappy. He’s withholding this truth as a way to maintain control over her, and then continues on to make the opposite choice of what his dad advises. Ugh. So dumb. Currently debating whether to even finish listening.

This was a great story. I love your writing. This book was very interesting and exciting. I loved all the characters. I love the duet of the narrators. I have listened to both of these narrators before and they work very well together.
