Maberry brings the weird and unbelievable to life again. Like all of his other Joe Ledger books, he makes the things of fantasy and nightmares into a twisted reality that gets you believing they could actually be true. Kill Switch just sucks you into its tentacles immediately and doesn’t let you up for air until the very end.
The way things are described and the pace of the book are stunning and will evoke your imagination and bring every detail to life. It doesn’t hurt either that the things Joe and his team say will have you laughing out loud and causing your family or co-workers to give you an odd look.
Joe is seriously hilarious with his quips. I have a serious man crush on Joe, he is my hero. Yes, I am fully aware that I sound like a moron. No, more like a Trekkie who suddenly found himself in an elevator with Captain Kirk. I don’t actually have many hero’s, but when I go bromance I go full bromance…. 😉
This is a must read for any Sci-Fi fan and will have you rethinking what you think you know about science fiction. So with that, I will leave you with this

Kill Switch audiobook in series Joe Ledger
Another great Joe Ledger read. Spoiler Alert.
This one starts with Joe, Bunny and Top headed for Antarctica. Mission?? A handoff from the CIA. A handoff from Harcourt Bolton. A Bolton who’s a living legend in the spy world. A man Joe has some hero worship for. A man he has a loads of respect for. A Bolton no one really knows at all.
The mission was in two layers. The cover is a surprise inspection to evaluate the status of a research base designated Gateway. This is a repurposed facility. The original Gateway was an old radar station from the early cold war era. Satellites made it mostly obsolete so it was closed up. Operative word is was. The base was built at the foot of Vinson Massif, the tallest mountain in Antarctica. The Russians and Chinese both have research stations in the same region.
From intelligence received in the last twenty-eight hours the Russian and Chinese bases have gone dark. No radio, no communication of any kind. Nineteen hours ago our facility also went dark. Joe and his team are about six hours ahead of the Russian and Chinese teams thanks to Bolton getting wind of the investigative teams headed out. Bolton was busy with something else so he passed it off the Church and the DMS. Hence Joe, Bunny and Top headed for Antarctica.
Gateway isn’t a radar outpost anymore and hasn’t been for over a decade. but that’s where things get muddy. Bug the computer geek for DMS had trouble finding out who actually opened it and what they are doing. Bug found out its some kind of black budget thing, but he only found that because of how well the details had been hidden. Very little of it is in any of the databases Bug and his geek squad had infiltrated. The place is now a mystery and Joe Ledger and his Echo teammates are going to find out what’s what. Its a mission which will almost cost Joe, Bunny and Top their lives.
So begins another damned fine read by Mayberry.
This one has Joe, Bunny, Top, Church, Bolton, Violin, Harry Bolt, Junie, Ghost, Prosper Bell, his father Nathan, Lydia, Sam, Joe and his team who come down with the Spanish flue after their trip to Antarctica, a sickness from the past, a bunker system underground, the God Machine, mind control, a Joe, Top and Bunny who begin to think they are losing their minds, a Bolton who is appointed as co director of DMS, a DMS who used to be number one for reliability, a DMS that lately has been less than stellar in performance, a Bolton with his own agenda, a Church who’s got an idea about what’s going on, the Unlearned Truths, Violin and Harry making it out with one of those books, a Prosper who’s the key, the POTUS and his hatred of Church and the DMS, a POTUS who will appoint Bolton as its director and cancel the charter, a Church and Lilith who save the day, a Joe looking for his inside Killer, a Ghost who senses something is wrong, murder, attempted murder, an egomaniac who wants the world to worship and adore him and Joe Ledger doing his best to figure it all out, hang onto his sanity and stay alive.

Audiobook Kill Switch by Jonathan Maberry
The series is just that good, not 5 minutes after I finish the year’s new book in the series that I’m already starting to anticipate/wait for the next years installment. This year’s book keeps you glued for to the pages for sheer curiosity of what’s to come, keeps you guessing about what exactly is going on, and keeps you wondering who the bad guy really is.
If I had one complaint about last year’s installment, Predator One, it’s that I knew who the “villian” was very early on. I had known early in Code Zero, but loved the way it was done so it can either work for or against the book. This years wasn’t one of those where you know early, it wasn’t till around 60% of the way through that I had a strong idea, and not knowing the exact “Why” was a big reason I wanted to finish the book all the faster.
Kill Switch brings back many of the fan favorite characters from the previous books, and introduces you to some new, intriguing personalities. If nothing else, Maberry is great at introducing you to a character and making them all feel genuine and unique. Love the little “easter eggs” for some of his other works mixed into the book here and there, I spotted them and instantly thought “Ohh I know what he’s referencing here” cause I’ve read a large portion of Maberry’s library.
If you love the Joe Ledger series and action packed books that will keep you guessing at every turn, then you’ll love this book. I’d recommend picking it up at a time where you have a lot of free time to spend reading, because if you’re anything like me, that’s all you’re going to want to do.

Audio Kill Switch narrated by Ray Porter
always been a fan of jonathan maberry, especially his these novels. anyways onto my review.
This started off really good, but then meandered around through the middle of the book with out much of a plot until it comes together near the end of the book that is quite a page turner.
also the big bad could be spotted from a few pages in and was nowhere near as good as villain as his previous books
It just seems that Jonathan is running out of ideas for Joe. after zombies, genetic super soldiers, drones then a mix of all of them in one book mr maberry needs to come up with something new or end the series possibly in style.
as said i am a big fan of his Joe ledger books but this does not live up to the hype

I have read everything Jonathan Maberry has written, most of it more than once, but I didn’t really enjoy this one. Maybe it was the weight of expectation behind the annual Joe Ledger release, but it felt like JM had a great idea which he then struggled to execute. The story felt somewhat laboured, repetitive and a little bit stale. That said, it doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t buy the next book in the series.
