Dark Magic

So, I’m only four books into the Dark Carpathian series. I have moderately enjoyed these first four books, but I haven’t been blown away by them. I was actually looking forward to Gregori’s story, as he has been such a mystical, powerful figure in the previous books. I thought Savannah, as his lifemate, was extremely disappointing. She was a flighty child who really did Gregori a disservice by being so ignorant of the ways of her own people. She was a Carpathian, and therefore should have been raised with the full knowledge of exactly what was expected of her once she came of age. I thought the whole song and dance of her “finding her own way” was just a joke. Even though her mother, Raven, was a human before being turned Carpathian, Raven should have known better (and her lifemate Mikhail) should certainly have played a role in ensuring that Savannah was raised better.

So, while this was a decent enough story, I was disappointed in Savannah’s behavior (for the most part), and thought that Gregori deserved a more mature mate. I already have the next book in the series on my Kindle, but I think I’m going to wait a while before getting into it. I’ll read some other books first to give myself a bit of a break from the Carpathians.

So far, I would just rate this series as okay. It’s pretty good, but there hasn’t been anything so far that has just blown me away. I have read better vampire stories, so I’m hoping that this series will improve as I get further into the series.

and I run into the same issue I had last time and a part of the reason I started having trouble with this sereis. It’s all well and good to do the women are equal storyline but you can’t have it both ways. If the lifemate is a fated thing and you allow those rightieous 21st century liberated moms the privilege of raising their daughter with a choice then you should also be giving them all ALL the information needed to make that choice. If you are one of a race of people whose men require a lifemate to save their own lives and reduce the threat to others then that should be part of the information given to all of the children of the race. Free will is only free will if you know what you are choosing and why. To deliberately choose to cause pain to a lifemate or not even tell your child that she may be a lifemate and leave that path open especially when you as a mom know what the bond entails is criminally deficient, imho.

Gregori, The Dark One, as he’s known to his people had been waiting for his lifemate to grow up a little more before he claims her. As he’s been waiting for centuries to meet her; while waiting he has hunted the evil ones who were once a Carpathian like him but decided to become a true vampire & kill their prey.

Savannah, magician, also the daughter of Mikhail & Raven, has been trying to run away from being claimed by her lifemate. As she doesn’t understand the feelings he produces in her; but her time as run out & he’s finally there to claim her.

This is the adventures of the beginning of their life together. There are lots of vampire fights,sex scenes, losing a friend & making a new one. But, you’ll have to read the book for yourself to find out what happens.

It was good to see Gregory finally with his lifemate. He did so much for his people with little reward in return. He was rough in the beginning, but proved that the love of the right woman could soften a heart as hard as his was. Savannah proved to truly be his light to his dark.

I loved gregoris story. He and Savannah were such a perfect match. This is Christine at her best! I have reread this book probably 10 times and I love it every time. Hot steamy romance scenes she is known for, unparalleled back story that keeps you hooked and wanting to delve right into next book in series. If you havent read other 3 prior they are awesome too. I cant thank her enough!
