This book is well written, and satisfying. I love how Elizabeth Hoyt writes characters that are so straight-laced, but are secretly passionate. Trevilian\’s integrity makes me love him even more. Her approach to Phoebe\’s situation is also refreshing. Though you feel for her, you never pity her. She is as strong as every other heroine. Also… I\’m so happy Ashford McNabb is back! Honestly, I had to grit my teeth through that first book without her. If it weren\’t for my love of Elizabeth Hoyt\’s writing, I would have had to miss Megs\’ story. Fortunately, the AudioGods heard my prayers!

Audiobook Dearest Rogue by Elizabeth Hoyt
I absolutely loved this book. Elizabeth Hoyt kept Phoebe to the character she had developed in all previous books – sweet, accepting of her blindness and just wanting to live an independent life and be treated like everyone else. I see Phoebe as the person that EVERYONE likes and in turn she likes everyone. Captain Trevillian is a perfect hero and the fact that he fell so hopelessly in love with Phoebe was fantastic. He\’s so charming and he deeply cares for his family although he hasn\’t seen them in some time and I like the fact that he stands up to Maximus. The love scene are always fabulous in Elizabeth\’s books. Ashford McNab is the voice of the Maiden Lane Series. She is fabulous, but (you knew the \”but\” was coming) I only wish she wouldn\’t give all of the children lisps. In all of the books I\’ve listened to by her, she always gives the children a lisp. (SMALL SPOILER: I really enjoyed the story and I think Elizabeth Hoyt puts into words what everyone is surely thinking when Phoebe is kidnapped the second time by having Phoebe\’s thoughts concentrate on the word \”again\”. I liked it!) I liked the development of the Eva Dunwoody and I can\’t wait to listen to her Asa\’s and her story in the next book.

Audio Dearest Rogue narrated by Ashford McNab
The book started out good. I liked all the characters but then the story became more and more unbelievable starting with whisking away the Duke\’s sister to safety without his knowing where. Also not making sure all propriety was maintained during her travels? Sharing the same room and bed? Ummm…..no again. He should have known that would have meant a slow death set upon him by the Duke. This then leading to an end with a VERY unlikely match. A retired, poor, disabled soldier and a Duke\’s sister? Not believable. Maybe nowadays we can believe in \”Pretty Woman\” type Cinderella stories, even had the poor disabled character been a woman, I still could have seen the match going through. The roll reversal just does not work. All the exciting moments are also too quickly and simply solved but well…. still an okay book.

I love the Maiden Lane series and this book didn\’t disappoint. I honestly was worried about this book because of who the hero & heroine were. From previous books we got to know Phoebe & Trevillion and I just had a hard time believing I would enjoy a love story between them. Well I shouldn\’t have questioned Hoyt\’s brilliant writing abilities. This was a fabulous book that I did not want to put down. The dialogue between the H&H was just as expected – terrific! McNab is Maiden Lane for me….she is great as always.
