First of all you must read/listen (just do both) to this book! There are many woman in pop culture I correlate my childhood with, however Jennie Garth has always topped the list. Yes over Mariah, Britney, Janet and even Barbra… Jennie is the one celeb that I have dreamed of having a cup of coffee with (obviously from her words in the book this would never happen lol since she would be extremely uncomfortable!) This book gave me a view of her life in her words and although I have always found her as a celeb to be completely down to earth and a non diva – that view was solidified within these pages. As a gay man (obviously you knew that from my above pop culture fav ladies reference!) I remember the moment I fell in love with Jennie, she was playing her famous roll as Kelly of course and it was an early episode of 90210 when she crushed on a cute guy who turned out to be gay! As a pre teen seeing this on TV my life just made sense, obviously this was not Jennie this was Kelly but the way the show handled it was amazing to me. I watched 90210 every (I believe it was Wednesday) with my mother I’d lay my head on her lap and we would both be silent and get so engrossed in the stories and my favorite memories of childhood were created right there. I followed Jennie throughout her career and would always smile at the memories and just enjoyed her spirit that she brought to whatever she was in be it WILAY, DWTS or her reality shows you could just tell she was shy and humble. This story especially hearing her speak the words (yes I read the book first) just mesmerized me, this is a must read!

I chose this book because I’ve been a Jennie Garth fan since 90210. As a young girl I thought she was the most beautiful woman ever.
This has to be the first celebrity autobiography I’ve read that does not include going off the deep end with drugs or alcohol. Even though those stories are juicy, it was refreshing to read about something new! In a the celebrity sense, Jennie’s life could be seen as boring, but I enjoyed her book. The only downside for me was the short chapters. I think some of them could have been combined into a longer chapter for better flow.

Audiobook Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde by Emily Heckman Jennie Garth
Jenny Garth writes a very interesting memoir of Hollywood in which she knocks herself off her pedestal, and tells it like it is. I feel like I went along on the highs and lows and experienced everything from farm life to Hollywood glitz and glamour. I felt like I was right there with the 90210 cast on a crummy sound stage with arguments spilling out into the parking lot. Jennys amazing and wonderful life makes for an excellent memoir. I really admire her.

Audio Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde narrated by Jennie Garth
I was totally drawn in and immersed into Jennie’s world as soon as I started the book. I’m very impressed with her wisdom, intelligence and sensitivity. I felt that Jennie delved into subjects that were personal for her and she did it with subtlety and tact. I don’t feel it’s a necessity to bad-mouth co-workers in order to have a successful tell-all. Jennie talks about her life and her time on 90210 and that’s what’s important. It’s her perspective on her time with the show. I thought that Jennie was honest, thoughtful and insightful as far as her life is concerned. I especially appreciated her revelations regarding her marriage and her musings on what’s happened after her devastating divorce. I also thoroughly enjoyed reading about her time at Esalen. As a fellow visitor of places such as Esalen, I am glad that Jennie understood the meaning and depth of these sacred and spiritual resorts. I sincerely felt hurt for Jennie when she described the failure of her marriage. I’m glad she is doing a little better and is meeting quality men in her life. This book made me root for her and wish her better luck in her life. The book is approrpriately titled, it is “Deep thoughts from a Hollywood Blonde” because there is nothing superficial in this book. Thank you for sharing your life with us Jennie! I wish you and your girls continued success!

I like Jennie Garth, but this book is too vague and doesn’t offer enough detail.. My favorite part was when she described her early childhood living on a farm. I felt as if I was there on the farm, experiencing her life with her. But then the book quickly slips into a bland generalization of Jennie’s life. I would have liked more in depth chapters on how she dealt with her rise to stardom, her divorce, her big, beautiful house where she lived with Peter and the children, and how she is doing now. Instead, I felt that most of the book was about her feeling very sorry for herself. I know she has had a rough few years, but she is pretty, rich, young, and she has an incredible chance to start a new chapter in her life, and be happy again if she will allow herself to do that. Many women would love to have the opportunities that she does, even without a man in her life.
