Earth Defiant

This book continues to fill the tapestry of the amazing Universe created by the fertile mind of Richard Fox. If you enjoy a science fiction book with an epic struggle against an overwhelming enemy, you’ll love this series. What Richard adds to this classic struggle is an unexected depth that is evolving through each book.

Just as you think the humans will be able to tackle the problem head on, they encounter new problems that are large enough to detail all of their plans. Will they fail or in succeeding gain new strength in their ultimate quest for survival? Perhaps, in being uniquelly human we may just save more than ourselves. During all this Fox still manages to weave in growing dillemas of conscience both in the characters themselves and human society.

I for one find a lot of enjoyment just in the character development and dialog of this series. Hopefully, I haven’t over hyped the series in my enthusiasm for it. I would hate to think that I did anything to spoil what has left me wanting more each time that I’ve read it.

It’s hard to find good books today with the massive number of options available. If you read this book because of my review consider popping back and liking the review. That should help encourage me to do more. Thanks.

While I understand that an author has to make some sacrifices to his cast of characters in the course of a series, it’s very hard to lose them as a reader of the story. It adds a gritty and emotional realism to the plot, but it feels like losing a friend.

That sense of loss wouldn’t happen if the characters weren’t engaging and didn’t have distinctive personalities. So kudos to Richard Fox for making me give a damn. Well done, sir.

This is another great story in this series. We are ALL human, trueborn or vat grown. Loved all the nuances and the tensions, vat grown vs human in this book. Lt. Hale and Elias as well as Stuben are great characters. I love all the others, but those are my favorite. Captain Valder is a man after my own heart. Try to do the right thing. This is a wonderful book and I enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Great continuation of the Ember War series. As usual the action starts strong and just keeps on going. You can and will get caught up in the characters. As a certified sci fi nut, this another great read and shouldnt be missed. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
