The story is well known in that Trump is Trump – he loves an audience and has no filter, so if we\’ve been watching we\’re all pretty much aware of who he is and what he\’s doing. What this book gives is a deeply researched book from a journalist who has listened and listened and listened to key players around Trump, telling us what they said without embellishment and without personal observations or comments. I can\’t say it\’s objective — nothing ever is perfectly objective — but it\’s pretty close. No big surprises about the subject Trump, but a lot of interesting observations from those around him. 37 people found this helpful

Bob Woodward is one of the finest investigative journalists this era has ever seen. In fact, his zeal to be accurate and have all his facts straight make his book a bit slower than some of the others written about the Time of tRump, like Omarosa\’s, and Anonymous\’ and blah blah blah. In fact, there are few others writing about this time when our empire is failing who I trust as much. Chris Hedges and perhaps Matt Taibbi, right offhand. But Woodward has the history behind him, and the gravitas, to really lay out the facts. Unfortunately, the facts are so bleak that it was hard to read, especially to read what has occurred and see how prophetic his words have been. It shows little real hope for an America going forward that will even resemble the nation that those of us from our 40s and up. I\’m 66 and was raised in a career Army family, so the horror show that is our military structures\’ kowtowing to the orange maniac and obeying patently illegal, immoral orders grates on me in a way it may not others. The narrator did a nice job, but not memorable, so it\’s 5 stars for Woodward, 4 for the narrator, and if someone would tell me how to give half-stars, I\’d do so, but I haven\’t figured it out. See you on the other side, fellow sane Americans. 29 people found this helpful

Audiobook Fear by Bob Woodward
I felt the book was great, told the story that should have been told, and Woodward did a good job of staying well within the boundaries of journalistic story telling with minimal bias added. If you disagree, remember these two points: 1. There were biased perspectives covered, but they were those of the individuals interviewed. 2. Just because a story highlights some negative aspects of a subject doesn\’t mean it\’s biased, it could mean that subject is negative. If this was any of the other hundreds of authors who have written about Trump, sure. But Woodward has a solid history of telling stories as he has found them, and everything in this book seems pretty reasonable to me! 97 people found this helpful

Audio Fear narrated by Robert Petkoff
Woodward is part of the elite class of reporters who knows how to tell a story and do it from an objective, unbiased way. Many people might think he\’s being biased with this story, but really, he\’s not. Many of the characters in Trump\’s cabinet that people might think of as bad people, Woodward actually allows their good characteristics to shine through. He lets the absurdity of the administration tear itself down without forcing it with bias or conjecture. 22 people found this helpful
