I am starting to really, really enjoy these highlander men
Though the idea of gods trapped within a body is similar to some I have seen, with all the elements that these stories contain it is a refreshing new tale that I am glad I have found.
The second installment picks up right from where we left off in the first book. Quinn has been taken by Deidre and in an effort to save him, Fallon goes to seek the kings aid. While there he find a beauty unlike any he has ever seen.
Larena Monroe knows the truth of why Fallon is here and she is thankful that she has finally found on of The McLeods finally. After searching for years looking for protection and shelter, she knew only the McLeods would be able to help her, only she has never seen or found one up until now.Larena has many secrets and she fears what will happen once Fallon knows them. Sought after by Deidre, Larena hopes Fallon will allow her to go with him back to his home in order to have help in fighting off Deidre.
In the first book, we saw how much of a durnk Fallon was in an effort to keep his god at bay. I have to say thank god he has finally stop that nonsense because it was weak and cowardly. I am glad he finally was able to embrace who he was and lead his brothers and their group in order to be a standing force against Deidres troops.
Though I did enjoy this book, I found it a little slow. It was easily predictable for me which resulted in a long, drawn out read. This could also easily be because of the holiday season and so I barely had time to even pick up the book half the time, but even so, I found it a little to predictable for my taste. Nonetheless, I will continue the series as I love the warriors and I am dying to know what happens to Quinn!
Overall, I enjoyed Fallon and Larenas story, I just think it fell together a little too nicely and way to quickly for my own personal tastes. Perhaps when I reread it eventually (because i know I will) I will reevaluate because sometimes it is just me!

Another great story by Donna Grant. Loving the Dark Swords series. Fallon’s story was as good as Logan’s. So much happens in this one.
Fallon, who up until now is broken or at least thinks he is, drowns himself in wine to drown out his god. Fear does that to him. Meeting Larena, Fallon learns to turn that fear into courage, because he learns to care and love Larena. She’s a fierce female Warrior, who’s fear spurs Fallon’s protectiveness and forces him to face his own fears to protect her. Larena, although weary of everyone, learns to put her trust in the one man who loves her enough to unleash and control his god so that he can become the man and Warrior he was born to be. Larena is such a strong character, and a perfect match for Fallon.
This was such a spectacular story. I enjoyed it as much as the first one. Loving the MacLeods. In this one some more Warriors and Druids are introduced, so we are really seeing the affects of what Deidre has been doing. What I love about these books is that each Warrior or Druid coming to the MacLeod Castle, play a pivitol part of the story and the MacLeod family. Each are welcome and each learn to care for the others and are willing to fight against Deidre.
So much action, romance and magic in this story. It was fast paced and hard to put down.

Audiobook Forbidden Highlander (Dark Sword #2) by Donna Grant
I really enjoyed the 2nd book in the Donna Grant’s Dark Sword series. In some ways, I found it even more enjoyable than the first book. While this book still had the same problem of a lame attempt at using dialect/brogue that I found in the first book (basically, only tossing in the occasional “doona”, “canna”, etc), I found it less annoying in this book than I did in the last. (Maybe I was just used to it?)
Fallon is a strong leader for this group of warriors and he has a perfect match in fellow warrior, Larena. Both have their hang-ups which causes some minor tension in cementing their relationship (he feels he’s not worthy of her and she’s too scared to trust anyone enough to commit), otherwise the rest of the story continues to build on the whole conflict with Deirdre and how to go about rescuing Quinn from her mountain stronghold.
There is plenty of time spent at MacLeod castle with Lucan and Cara and the other warriors we met at the end of “Dangerous Highlander”. It was great to see their group bond growing stronger into a “brotherhood” of sorts. In addition to the other warriors, we are introduced to Malcolm, Larena’s cousin, who will hopefully become an integral part of the group as the storyline progresses in future books. We also get an inside look at Deirdre and her stronghold and really begin to see in more detail just how evil and twisted she is.
While this book can be read without having read “Dangerous Highlander” (book 1), I do not personally recommend doing so, as this story picks up shortly after the previous book left off and things that happened in that book play an integral part in this one. That said, Grant does a good job of filling in the blanks for those that missed book 1.

Forbidden Highlander: A Dark Sword Novel
this is the second book in the series by Donna Grant i happened to get this one first so the story of Fallon was a bit confusing as to why he was reluctant to release his god (back story to fight the Romans out of Scotland the Druids and Celtic made a spell to place demon gods inside their best warriors but this backfired when the result was too good so the gods were bound inside the warriors and passed down thru the generations with any problems) the main story evolves around a power hungry drough named Diedre who starts unleasing all the gods again–Fallon and his two brothers Lucan and Quincy escape from her and live in their old family castle together where they have been gathering all the other warriors who escaped and are planning to go back to her fortress mountain to rescue Quincy who has been captured while in London Fallon meets a female Warrior who has the Scroll that lists all the warriors. a copy is maded of this to bargain with Diedre to get her to release Quincy who she thinks is her mate–good read but get the first book too to fill in the gaps this is a three book series
