1 star for consent, -4 stars for racism The romance was cute, the siblings were cute, the kitchen renovation was cute. Do you know what wasn\’t cute? The unintentional racism. The author had a note at the beginning saying she didn\’t intend to be racist, and that she was going into this with an open heart or something. The problem with white people writing people of color is that they try so hard not to be racist and seem ~woke~ they end up that way anyway My mother is Latina, and Spanish was my first language. Never in my life have I used Spanish the way the main character does. He\’s supposed to have grown up in the US, so like me and most of my generation, he should have learned to code switch. But maybe the author wanted him to see more ~spicy~. The real kicked is the ending when they all watch f\’ing Coco together, and the white family wants to do an ofrenda together. I hope this doesn\’t offend anyone, but in my experience, when a white woman hooks up with a man of a different race, it\’s a red flag when they want to adopt that person\’s traditions after being spurned on by popular media (Disclaimer: I love Coco, I just don\’t like how suddenly every white person I meet suddenly decides they know more than me about my traditions)

I have no words for this book. I absolutely LOVED it. This book is definitely on my top reads of 2019! It has all the feels it wasnt the usual read but to me was so amazing! Both characters were so great! I actually teared up a few times which doesnt seem to happen anymore in books. This was a new author to me and I cant wait to check out more from her. I want books from her siblings as well!! Check this book out today! So worth it!

Audiobook Kind of Cursed by Stephanie Fournet
I can\’t remember the last time I wrote a review. But I couldn\’t believe this book had only 30+ reviews. I read romance novels all the time but lately even my favorite authors are boring me. Not this book. The main characters are original and you just fall in love with Luc and Millie as they fall in love with eachother. If you want Romance ….Buy this book! If you want to laugh ….Buy this book. If you want to read some steamy and yet so romantic love scenes … then BUY THIS BOOK!!! The love between these characters is so sweet and genuine and at the same time so intense and overwelming that you are swept away with them. I have never read a book by this author but I plan to choose another one of her books to read. I hope you choose this as your next book. Enjoy the read. You will have a silly smile on your face by the time you finish it.

Audio Kind of Cursed narrated by Em Eldridge Gary Tiedemann
Ive read the authors intro about wanting to have more diversity in romance (bingo! so do I…reading about a cast of all white boys and ladies is getting old). Thus in my opinion this is a step in the right direction even if there are a few hiccups. What I liked: The story was is cute, funny, hot (damn Luc can talk dirty to me alllll day) and the writing is excellent and creative. The Hiccups: The parts that could have been improved is the fact that the main character, Luc, was othered a bit much even though he was born in the US per the author. I feel like the Stephanie Fournet was all too aware of his Mexicaness more than Luc would have been. the author also runs through the all the stereotypes white folks have about Hispanics then tries to rationalize why theyre wrong I kind of appreciate it on some level but they story could have been a lot breezier if Luc was more nonchalant. Im saying this because I live among Hispanics; these folks are my friends, coworkers, neighbors…non of them seem that awkward about their heritage. Then again this is California may be in Louisiana (where the story unfolds) its still a bit of a novelty to be Mexican American? The other issue Ive had is the grieving period for Millies parents seemed very rushed. Emmett (Millies brother) was the only one who struggled while the other kids seemed just dandy which struck me as off…hello dont these kids need grief counseling?. Anyways I still enjoyed the book (the hankypanky is hot and the writing is good I pretty much got over the other stuff.)

I enjoyed every minute of this story ! The characters are so real , I wanted the book to go on forever . The furry part of the family is too precious . I was born in Monroe , Louisiana and I love my home state more because of the differences from other states . I was raised between Louisiana and Florida , so when someone writes about Louisiana , I can\’t help reading it . I absolutely loved this book because I laughed so much ! Very good story !
