Hidden Fires

The overall story is compelling, however the characters are a little over-the-top in personalities. Way too innocent or way to mean-spirited making them less believable.

The story plot was not bad. The structure of the story, if I\’m saying this correctly, was off for me. I liked Lauren until she said she loved Jared after Jared had been nothing but horrible to her. Her love for him did not make any since. I could see how he could love her but not the other way around. I wanted to like Jared, but the author took too long in the book to make a case for me to like him. He was mean, really mean, to Lauren when it was very clear she was a good person. Jared\’s character needed to have been devolved into a likeable person earlier on in the book. It seemed like Lauren was victimized by everyone except the Mexican and Spanish people. They were the nicest people in this book. I\’m disappointed in this story by Sandra Brown. She is a great story teller, but this book was my least favorite of her books.

Sandra Brown is one of my favorite writers. Hidden Fire is one of the many great books written by Ms. Brown.

You can seldom go wrong when reading Sandra Brown. This one held my interest and I loved that she mercilessly killed off a few bad guys that so deserved it.

This is a $2 read at best. Disappointed in the pricing of this story & performance. I normally like this author, but felt like I way over-played for this Audible book.
