Kilo Class

Probably the best of Robinson\’s books. I enjoyed it very much, particularly Admiral Morgan\’s style in dealing with other countries (not too positive, lots of grumbles and hanging up phone unexpectedly). The heroes are SEALS, who managed to dispose of three submarines and two hapless men who run across the SEALS by error. The major hero is Boomer Dunning, who is very real (the SEALS are wildly efficient and murderous – which is their job) and he, Commander of the Submarine USS Columbia, carries out the job of not allowing the Kilo class subs to come anywhere near Taiwan, (which they would blockade) and finishes off a real villain of the piece – he lands up being promoted to Captain (Of Course)! Mr. Robinson does a really good job of interweaving the situations and the emotions of the main characters, really keeps one rivetted to the plot. Linda Sheean

Kilo was a great read. It was intense and suspenseful. It will keep your interest and keep you on edge. I recommend this book to all who have an interest in fictional military books that come across as very real. Moving on to Robinson\’s .next book.

Patrick Robinson is a very good writer when it come to military/war stories. Except for a small portion of the book when he dwells on the personal life of one of the characters for too many pages, this is a very exciting book about black ops. The U.S. wants to destroy 10 diesal class/kilos submarines that china bought from russia. The way they do it is a great story. The part i liked most is when the seals enter russia not once but twice to destroy some of the submarines & that has the russians guessing how did they enter their country with so many explosives. Robinson is a great military writer & is up there with Tom Clancy. He has a lot of knowledge about submarines. The next book of his i\’m going to read is \’HMS Unseen\’.

Good, easy read. Story line stretches credulity a little bit, but it’s got many twists and turns in the plot that make it a fun read. Just go with the story line and enjoy the adventure. Admiral Morgan needs to learn how to play in the sand box with the other children.

Haven’t read this author before, but will read more books in this series. As others have said, “Clancy-like.” Lots of technical “military info,” buy doesn’t detract from the plot.
