When your a twin you expect to be treated the same especially when you look similar except Mackenzie was a nobody while Madison was popular. Mackenzie wanted to be popular and for people to know her name.

Five guys from high school known as the Savages walk around like they dont have a single care in the world. They are societys elite using there parents money to get them out of any kind of serious trouble.

On the night Madison died Mackenzie knew the Savages were the ones who killed her. After nine years with no leads, Mackenzie notices a picture of the guys. Still wanting answers and justice for her sister she heads back to California.

Overall:
Sadly from the moment I began reading I could tell this was going to be challenging to finish. The writing doesnt line up with what I need to stay connected. I need dialogue driven books that stay away from minute details.
This had the potential to be an excellent book. The concept alone was intriguing but the execution was lacking.

Im disappointed with the dirty talk its extremely vulgar and I wasnt prepared or interested in this direction. I thought this was a thriller not an erotic romance.
Its labeled a romantic suspense, yet Ill Ive read is sex scene after sex scene. Boring. Yeah I said boring. Im not interesting in the sex scenes. Im interested in what happened to her sister, yet Mackenzie is distracted by dick. We get introduced to an insecure girl and the next thing you know shes delving into dirty sex scenes with a guy she just met.

Mackenzies character was a contradiction behaving with jealousy towards Baz to pretending she was interested in him. She gave me whiplash with her contradicting comments.

An entire premise built upon Mackenzie seeking justice for her sisters death and yet she accomplished nothing but sex with one of the Savages. An entire story of her screwing instead of gaining intel. She was a lousy investigator. It took an entire story to learn what happened only to end on a cliffhanger. Technically we know what happened but not why it happened.

It wouldve been nice to have all the details she knew before running back to California. Waiting nine years, being awakened by a photo, and leaving her family just doesnt add up.

HOLY MF!!! Ive literally just finished this book and Im still slack-jawed with the ending!! Talk about coming out of left field!!! I knew this book was going to keep me on the edge of my seat but Im telling you I almost fell out of my seat with this suspense driven somewhat dark book by Ms. Soto.

This book starts with the event that changes everything that Mackenzie, or Kenzie knows about her life and my heart was just broken for her. Ms. Soto did a phenomenal job of having us become invested with Kenzie and her identical twin sister Madison and their acrimonious relationship. Kenzie is a girl that is the one were all so afraid we were in high schoolat least I did and Madison does everything she can to make Kenzie feel so much less than anyone should be made to feel.

Madison Wright was the most frightening creature in all of Humboldt County.

When Kenzie decides to attend the end of the year party that shes never had the audacity to even thing about attending, but thanks to her friend Winnie shes taking the leap and so much happens, but, theres this underlying anticipation of fear about what will happen when the popular click, especially her sister, finds out shes there.

Then the unthinkable happens and one of the Savages of Humboldt County notices her. We all know a group of people like this and theyre the ones that ruled everything that happens in Ferndale. For once in her life shes living and the night she thought was going to be the best in her life ends up being the worst!

Everything Kenzie knows changes. Her focus becomes figuring out what really happened that night and when an opportunity drops in her lap to get close to the people with all the answers, she jumps at it! Unbeknownst to her though, when she spends an evening with Baz King her life once again is thrown into chaos because he may have a key to that night.

Oh Baz!! Hes a mystery but not at the same time. Hes dark, and sexy and demanding and finds this woman that stumbles into his life one that he cant get enough of.and so the twists and curves come shooting at us. Kenzie has immersed herself in Bazs world and it may be more than she can handle.

This book is written with clarity and a tenseness that had me gripped by the words. I couldnt even believe what I was reading at times because it keeps getting better and better. The chemistry between Baz and Kenzie is through the roof but his friends are not so crazy about him bringing a woman into their foldand oh this is when things get crazy and heart-stopping!!

I could go on and on about everything this book, but this is one that needs to be read so you too can be drawn into this world where it seems theres no consequences for actionsbut we all know thats a fallacy!

This book is gripping in its intensity and as I said at the beginning of my review, the ending is literally SHOCKING!! I am still trying to figure out how this came about and exactly whats going to happen next because were left with events that are at times horrifying and provide clarity at the same time. I for one need to have Bury Me With Lies ASAP!!!!

I really did enjoy the book, but there is a basic problem with it that made me not love it, the heroine. This book did unfortunately have one of my big pet peeves and that it had an adult heroine that behaved so idiotically, this is the main reason why I don’t read YA’s. I want to empathize with Mackenzie for the scars of her past and her insecurities are very much justified. However the author made it hard for me to feel bad for her. As your reading this book you can see the train wreak a mile away and Mackenzie still went through with all the bad decisions. It got me frustrated with the author since that is more of a Young Adolescent book move.
I am not sure if the author did this to make her more relatable as a flawed human, possibly because a normal person may also make the same decisions in the high pressure situations she was in. Although her whining and self absorption didnt make her easy to love either.

And then there was the fact that she so submissive to Baz. When ever he is around she losses focus and he becomes her main focus which maybe I could understand but it felt a little over board for me. However I did love the character Baz on the other hand. We dont get much of an in depth look into his character, but I have hopes for him.

Even though the plot needed to be a little tighter for a romantic suspense, it was intriguing and fast paced,and I do have to admit I needed to know what happened and jumped right into book 2 with hopes that Mackenzie maybe grows a little more and isn’t so whinny and self absorbed.

I loved Baz and Mackenzie and that cliffhanger. Wow! However, I like a book to just get on with it, and for me this one didnt. It took a long time to get to where it was going with not a lot happening in between. I did like it though and have preordered the next book in the Duet. And of course this is just my opinion and my preferences.

Writing a review for this book? No problem. I thought! Because after reading KMWL three times, I really don’t know how!

This book is crazy! Don’t get me wrong – it’s good crazy, the best, absolutely phenomenal. There are so many layers in this story, I don’t even know how to put it in words.
You want a strong, independent, driven heroine?
An alpha so alpha you need to invent a new word for?
You want side characters who confuse the hell out of you?
You want heat, chemistry, angst, action and so many twists, that you can’t tell up from down?
You want a cliffhanger, so you can throw your book/Kindle (or whatever) through your house?

READ THIS BOOK!

And even if you aren’t into all these things, read it anyway. Because the writing is perfect and the story is amazing and this book is extremely captivating. You’ll see. Absolutely amazing!
