I waited a long time for this book — the author took a hiatus and concentrated on other books, and I felt like she was leaving this series behind, unfinished. For that reason, I haven’t read her other books — afraid that she might get bored with them as well and move on to something else whilst leaving it unfinished.

I enjoyed reading this book — but I have to admit, I felt the book itself was rushed. There were a few logic flaws that should have been caught before the book was published — as listed by others, the biggest one was in one scene the author takes the time to say the bow is hidden, and a short time later, oops!! she still had it with her. That was blatant the first time I read the book, and someone should have caught and rectified that before publishing. There’s another point where one of the characters, Burn, laments that everyone forgot about him. I felt in a way, that was the author throwing up her hands as if to say, I really don’t know what to do with him either. Since it’s a character I really like, I felt a bit cheated.

That being said, I felt it was a good, albeit inconclusive, ending for this book. I was sad at the removal of some of the characters because I felt they deserved more recognition. I felt the same way when Dorian was killed in the first book. What a great character he could have been, had the author kept him around for further development. I haven’t read the novella about Dorian yet, and probably won’t. I know the ending of his story and I hated it, so I just don’t see the point.

Some felt that the ending left you hanging, and I guess it does — but it also ends. It’s left open for other things to happen, but even so, you know where the characters have been and where they are going. It’s a different story from here on in.

Sometimes an author is ready to move on to something different, and I guess that’s how I read this book. The author wanted to be done, so did her best to tie up some loose ends hurriedly so that she could walk away from the series altogether.

Will I read more from this author? I am not certain. Her writing has progressed wonderfully but I am not convinced she will continue something once it gets going. We shall see.

Review: After a long wait, we finally get Krait’s Redemption. This book could be the last in the series and I would be okay with it, however, there is still another book expected to come out next year. The Cat’s Eye Chronicles have been all about Sora, her growth, and the relationships she has developed along the way. This book perhaps suffered from multiple POV syndrome. There are too many characters doing their part for the mission, yet at times, it serves to only dissipate the tension that was building.

The book picks up right where the last one ended. We are still just a few days from the Winter Solstice. The Shade is a big threat and Sora has been poised. We learned all about the political maneuvering the humans are involved in and how The Shade has used it to its advantage. We get to see The Hive again and the Grand Masters are not that wonderful. We see Crash make some very mature decisions. We see the redemption promised in the title – I only wished it would have been longer and that Caprion may have enjoyed it a bit more.

Sora has become a strong fighter and she is able to play the game. She has some insecurities and plays the socialite role – seems at odd with what we know about Sora, but it is short lived, so I am okay. We also see more of Seaburn – oh how I wish my heart didn’t belong to Crash already…

Overall, a very good 5th book. I would have been satisfy for this to be the end of things, since pretty much everything is resolved. However I am glad to see that the next book is set two years in the future. Highly recommend this series.

Audiobook Krait’s Redemption by T. L. Shreffler

I enjoyed this series and was so excited about this book. The characters are interesting and addictive, and the world she creates is colorful, creative and fantastic. The end gutted me though. After reading this series and the mysteries that you impatiently wait for the answers to, I was expecting a grand surprise ending or at least some closure. It was short and far from satisfying. I’m sorry to have to give only 3 stars but the ending was just disappointing.

Audio Krait’s Redemption narrated by C.S.E. Cooney

First of all I was so excited when this finally came out! There were a few things that I found to be confusing though. All the books up to this one refer to Burn and RIP Dorian as wolfies or wolfy and now all of a sudden they are only referred to as wolven. Then In Ferran’s Map, it says the third sacred weapon is an arrow head (first mentioned in chapter 1 talking multiple times about the third wraiths black arrow and how it was being sought), but in here it is the long bow instead? Then it was said that Sora stashed the long bow under her mattress, but then the next page she still has it and then the third page she does not have it? I am cunfuzzled.
Small***SPOILER*** ahead.

Also it was quite obvious that RIP Moss and Krait are one and the same in Ferran’s Map and confirmed in this book, but it was not confirmed whether or not she is also “Bug” from Volcrian’s Hunt? Is it supposed to be implied?, because “Bug” was never brought up except that one time. And it was hinting that the sacred weapons were destroyed in RIP Caprion’s light, but never confirmed. So my last question is…Is there going to be another book? Or is it just left like this? I will be left feeling very unsatisfied and unhappy if this is it? Like talk about book torture with sucky ending… unless she is writing another, then an ending like this is fine.

PS Viper and Sora CANNOT end like this!

All in all I love this series! I could read over and over again. As always 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
