Lessons in Stoicism: What Ancient Philosophers Teach Us about How to Live audiobook free
This is a wonderful, thoughtful book about Stoicism. Small enough to slip into your pocket, it has the rare quality of being a work that stands on its own, while also serving to introduce the reader to just enough of the words and thoughts of the Roman Stoics–Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius–that one naturally will want to seek them out in order to become better acquainted with them and their writings. Clearly the work of someone who has spent many years reflecting on Stoicism, both the theory and the practical challenges associated with trying to live one’s life as a Stoic, the finished product is spare, polished, and a distillation of what Stoicism is and what it still can be for the modern reader. Sometimes we go searching for a book, perhaps having formed a desire of what we hope that book might be even while none of the books we have so far encountered seems able to satisfy that desire, until one day we actually find what we were looking for: the very book we most wanted to exist, and it does!

I place this in the gift book genre. A little into to Stoicism with references to go further. However, although the book is attractive, it is cheaply made in my picky opinion. The cover doesn’t lie flat, and the paper used for content is bargain-book grade.

Audiobook Lessons in Stoicism: What Ancient Philosophers Teach Us about How to Live by John Sellars
This is the perfect book for someone looking to get started with Stoicisim, informative yet succinct. You can read all the way through in an hour or 2, and come away with a pretty good understanding of what Stoicism is all about and have a good idea how to start practicing.

Audio Lessons in Stoicism: What Ancient Philosophers Teach Us about How to Live narrated by Rupert Farley
This was a near-perfect introduction to Stoicism for those looking for the fundamentals of the philosophy. Of all of the modern-day books on Stoic philosophy, this was by far one of my favorite. It is a short read (Less than 80 pages) but is straight to the point and simple to understand. Sellars is a great advocate and resource for Stoicism and I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn the philosophy.

New book had page 51 torn horizontally. Price is too high for sub par materials and lack of quality control inspection. I will tape torn page and not return only because l am interested in the writer’s perspective. However l think l deserve a discount given its condition.
