Audiobook Metal Mage (Metal Mage #1) by Eric Vall
First let me say the voice acting is fine. Not great but definitely good enough to make you believe they are different people. And that\’s about it for the good news. Everything else was either absolutely horrid or almost approached OK. The worst part is the main character. There is nothing likable about him. He starts off telling you he always knew he didn\’t belong and had a special destiny. Then a goddess plucks him from Modern Earth and tells him exactly that, confirming his specialness all along. She then drops him off in a high fantasy world where, to no surprise, he has innate magic. That would be OK if he didn\’t ask for help learning how to control this power, then get pissed off every single time someone even kinda mentions he has no training. At one point he is taken to the most powerful order of magic on the planet, to the head of the order no less. Does he act humble? Is he grateful for the audience? Happy to be given a chance to learn? Triple no. It was like watching a highschool student tell a PHD I know more than you… after you just asked them to teach you. That\’s how it came across. I had to give up after three hours.

Audio Metal Mage (Metal Mage #1) narrated by Christopher Boucher Jessica Threet
the character to me canenoff as a tad bit arrogant and without reason to be. and this soured the whole story becuase of that, but other readers might not find him to be so, and thus the book will be more appealing to them.

Love the narrators. They have a lot of personality and group dynamic. The story is somewhat thin and the main character, in my personal opinion, is overly arrogant. Although a kind character, the arrogance in his attitude kind of rubs me off the wrong way. Like a jock trying to be good but failing at it. Most of his thoughts are 60% sex drive , 30% logic and kindness, 10% arrogance. Im surprise these strong willed women find him charming, with his shallow flirting. It just happens with little to no reason for it to happen. The story has very few twist and depths.
