Youre not normal. Youll never be normal. Give it up. Stop trying to fit in a world that will never accept you. Nobody can understand you the way I can. Youre a Sidhe-seer. You want to spend your whole life denying it? what you see. What you are. What do you want. Sad way to live and die.

In The Immortal Highlander by Karen Marie Moning, we finally get to read Adam Blacks story. Adam Black was made human, but invisible by the Queen of Faerie as punishment for overstepping during a trial being decided by the Queen. He meets Sidhe-Seer Gabrielle OCallaghan, who can actually see him, and realizes she may be able to help him. Then as both of their lives are threatened they are forced to work together. All the while Adam tries to convince Gabrielle, who has been taught to be afraid of and despise faeries that he might be the man for her.

This is my very favorite of this series so far. I didnt even know if I liked Adam Black, but I love who he became with Gabrielle. This entire series is great to read for alpha male romance with just the right amount of drama and cheese. I give this one 4.5 stars.

Well this book finally had an “ending” that the reader could close the book shut on and be satisfied with. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because a lot of times a character would ask a question and you would read for five to six paragraphs and there would be the answer mixed up with all this stuff you didn’t need to read. Had to backtrack several times to see what the question was. BUT, that being said, this was a really great book especially if you’ve read the series one after the other. It seems I have one more book to read about someone being stuck in a old fashioned looking glass. Talk with you after I finish that one, then I move on to something else. I’ve tried very hard to be as truthful as I can with my reviews as it is important to the author and her readers. Always remember though everyone is different. See you in Scotland, if only in your dreams. Hugs!

Audiobook The Immortal Highlander by Karen Marie Moning

The Immortal Highlander by Karen Marie Moning (Audio Edition)
Narrated by Phil Gigante
Highlander Series #6

4.5 stars

The first time I read this book I remember thinking there was a lot of summaries of what Adam did throughout all the other highlander books. That made me want to skim and I found tedious because I had just read those books right before. This time however, I listened to it out of order and not while the other stories were fresh in my mind which made me enjoy it more I think.

Adam Black is a confident -to the point of cocky- fae who thinks he’s God’s gift to women. So it’s fun to watch him suffer a bit when Gabi won’t give it up! Gabi is a woman who’s at wits end and just wants something to go right but it’s all just going wrong. She was a fun character and this story had some funny parts that made me laugh out loud. Like any Moning book you can’t go wrong. They are all good.

The narration was done well as always. Gigante is great with his different voices.. however, the lazy drawling voice he used for Adam, while I agree it is probably exactly how Adam would sound.. wasn’t my favourite. If you have not read this series. I highly recommend it -on audio or book form- both are fantastic!

Audio The Immortal Highlander narrated by Phil Gigante

This is my favorite of the books- the heroine needs no convincing that Fae fairies exist- she sees them. And Adam is my secret fantasy male; the bad boy with the hidden good heart. If you read the preceding book, you know Adam was made mortal in order to save the MacKelter line from the blood bath. Several of the “twists” in the story revealed at the beginning of the book are that the Queen also made Adam invisible to both the other fairies and the mortals, thus Adam is completely alone with any immortal powers except the ability to shift-change for short distances. The second new element to the story is the introduction of a special moral family of females who can actually see fairies and has over the centuries been keeping a series of notebooks to aid others, our heroine is one such person with the power she inherited from her grandmother, a good Irish lass named O’Callahan. Out of necessity she and Adam are forced to team up to beat the “bad guys”. Additional tie-ins to prior books include his reason for being in Cinncinati-to locate his son (book 3), and while looking through the journals, reference is made to the mid 800’s and Dalkeith-Upon-the-Sea (books 1 and 2).
This book is Karen Marie Moning at her tongue-in-cheek best. My favorite passage occurs in the first chapters as Adam is still discovering exactly what it means to be a mortal male, he sees Gabby getting out of her car, is admiring her person just before realized that Gabby could see him and, in a panic she eludes his first effort to make contact with him. “It had just been made excruciatingly clear to him that the human male brain and the human male cXXk couldn’t both sustain sufficient amounts of blood to function at the same time. It was one or the other, and the human male apparently didn’t get to choose which one….How had mankind survived this?” There is one more seriously fun twist that brings it all together but farther into the story and I am not going to ruin the fun, although it is eluded to in the next installment of this soap opera, “Spell of the Highlander”.

I was well into the Fever Series, when I realized that the Highlander Series would help flesh out the stories. I highly recommend that you read the Highlander Series first, in recommend reading order.

Read these two series if you are comfortable with four letter words and graphically described sexual scenes. Not that they are over abundant and they do complement the story. It’s just some people like vanilla and these are not vanilla stories.

This was a well thought out and well written love story, with a dash of danger. Ms Moning is able to imbue her characters with the personality traits that suit their individual age and standing.

Thank God and whoever (or whatever) brings dreams of inspiration to individuals, who are talented enough to bring them to life.
