I really enjoy the “Private” novels, but I was shocked when I started reading “Missing, A Private Novel”. The title page states “first time available in the US and Canada”. It may be the first time available under the name “Missing”, but the story is actually “Private Sydney”. I was not disappointed with the story, but with the deception of the title. I spent good money for the same book I already had in my collection.

Missing audiobook in series Private
This gets two stars because the rest of the series has been so good. This one is awful. The main character couldn’t detect water if he stepped in it. The supporting characters are two dimensional at best. The missing man never becomes interesting on any level. The sub plot becomes a plot only because it’s slightly less boring than the main plot. In short this book is a waste of time and money.

Audiobook Missing by James Patterson Jassy Mackenzie
This book, which I gave to my wife for Christmas 2016, was previously published as “Private Sydney” (which I gave to my wife for 2015 Christmas). She just started reading “Missing”, and immediately saw that it was the same book she had previously read. “Private Sydney” was published in the UK and in Australia by on offshoot of Random House. “Missing” was published by Grand Central Publishing in NY, and contains a paragraph in very fine print that “This book was previously published as Private Sydney in the UK by …..etc.”.
When we discovered this sham in April 2017, I thought we’d at least return the book to Amazon, but I was surprised to learn that it was too late to get our money back. Well, we’ll give the book to the library. It is a good read.

Audio Missing narrated by Robert Petkoff
James Patterson & his co-author have written an intense, page turning storyline involving two missing persons. One involves the murder of a mysterious woman and the kidnapping of her daughter. The second is even more complicated and intense involving a missing person whose identity is a total mystery. Both cases come to Private Australia and is another good read for those of us who enjoy the imaginative writings of Patterson and his co-authors.

It was okay. I like the Sydney chapter of the Private novels. And this is the newest one that is also titled Private Sydney. So beware before/if you decide to buy both. Just retitled which for some odd reason James Patterson does sometimes 🙂 The thing about this one is it just felt somehow too loose. Like the characters were floating around and nothing kind of fit. Too many characters, side stories, etc. Okay for light reading. Easy to forget afterwards.
