You can tell that the coauthor put their own spice into this one. Enjoyable as I had missed this tale when it came out and now during my reread of the entire series I’m enjoying it.

Murder in LaMut (Legends of the Riftwar, Book 2) is well written. It is an individual story that is not dependent on reading the books that preceded it although it is helpful.

Fans of the Riftwar Saga by Mr. Feist know all about the story of Pug and Tomas of Crydee as well as many details about what is occurring in the Kingdom of the Isles and the Empire of Tsuranuanni. While these details are critical to the understanding of the story they focus on the main characters and on those they directly interact with. Murder in LaMut and the other Legends of the Riftwar novels give you a fantastic look at many ordinary aspects of the lives of the low-ranking nobles and ordinary citizens of the kingdom. Feist’s trio of mercenary soldiers are faced with situations that are completely outside what they normally experience in an environment hostile to them and others in their chosen field. This is a riveting tail about the bonds of friendship between three individuals and how it is possible to overcome obstacles you never foresaw.

It’s a break from the usual dynasty but a good read
