Night of the Cobra

For those who have read the full series, and I recommend starting from the beginning, this is another great one in the series. Turning the clock back we get to meet a younger Kyle as he serves with the Marines in Somalia. While the back story is a large portion of the book it is enjoyable seeing some of what created the Kyle Swanson we have seen in the other books in the series. Pacing is good if a bit slow at times as we move through the events. Enjoyable book overall. If you have enjoyed other books in the series you should enjoy this latest addition. If you haven\’t read the others I recommend starting from the beginning but look forward to this one when you get back. It\’s a good one.

Any good writer of a series is able to show a character\’s growth/maturation. Coughlin & Davis achieve the goal of realistic character development in their protagonist Kyle Swanson. I liked the Marine sniper in the first 8 books of the series, but I like him even more as a 40 year old entrepreneur who still will do CIA undercover work. In Night Cobra, Kyle Swanson demonstrates love & sensitive concern for a 75 year old Somali woman who survived the horrors of Mogadishu just to become the target of a crazed Somali terrorist.in Minneapolis. As usual, readers need not have read the previous books in the Swanson series to enjoy this stand-alone novel.

Pretty good, if you are a fan but not as good as other novels in the series. It kind of drags, and the flashback to 20 years ago technique is way overdone by the author. Overall the story line was not well executed, and seemed to lack crispness and focus. There was also not enough action (don\’t get me wrong, there is some gruesome action so worth a look) and this made the book weaker too. I\’ll be generous and give 3 stars….but Coughlin and Davis better quickly get their act together and deliver a really good Kyle Swanson book very soon. If not I won\’t be reading their books anymore.

Great read to where Kyle Swanson is at a cross roads in his career and facing retirement. A nightmare from Kyle\’s past comes back to have revenge against Kyle. Not caring how many may need to die in order for the Cobra to exact is murderous rage and make to Swanson pay for defining the Cobra twenty years ago. This story has many dips and twists as you follow Kyle Swanson in his pursuit to find the Cobra and exact his own revenge.

Probably Coughlin\’s best yet. The reader MUST take time off from everyday activities so he can get comfortable and read this book. There is no way that anyone can put it down. Nonstop action that rings of all possibilities . I highly recommend this novel to all our legislators so they can understand what they are facing in today\’s world. Looking forward to another Coughlin\’s novel.
