I greatly enjoy reading Terry Pratchett’s work, and any Discworld book that features the Watch is a favourite. This book is no exception. The only reason I am reducing a star is because the Kindle version has some important parts missing. As any Discworld reader will know, every book has little footnotes that explain words on some pages. In the Kindle version, the * next to the words exists, but the footnotes are missing, taking away, in my eyes, an important part of the story. This is something I am sure can be fixed in future revisions of the ebook and I hope that existing buyers will have a chance to receive the updated version when fixed.

Night Watch audiobook in series Discworld
Ive had the pleasure of reading Pratchetts Discworld series chronologically from the first, and have marveled at the growth and evolution of the authors voice and style. In Night Watch we find the sober, dramatic, wise voice fully realized. This book is not a light comic laugh, and Commander Vimes is so delicately drawn as to allow the thought that we are, finally, reading the simple recounting of a moment in the mans life.
It is my favorite novel to feature the Watch and Mr. Vimes, and quite possibly my favorite of the series. Its a step up for an author who has a knack for leveling up his work, and entrenches his place among the truly excellent novelists.

Night Watch audiobook by Terry Pratchett
I’ve read the book before, and wanted to read it again, but on the Kindle.
It’s very annoying to try to figure out what the garbled text is supposed to say and fill in what’s missing. Pratchett makes a lot of money for the publisher, and they should treat his works better.
They need to fix this.
My 1-star rating is a reflection of the poor publishing standards. Otherwise, I’d give it 4. It’s not the absolute best of the Discworld novels, but it’s very good.

Night Watch audio narrated by Nigel Planer
I’ve been reading Sir Terry P.’s work for nearly three decades now…I’ve read this particular one more than once…it would alarm Mr to know how many times I’ve read and re-read the Disc-World novels. And again, this is one of his best.
Apart from the premise, there is very little magic in the story line. A thunderstorm made of ambient Disc-World magic and meteorology strikes with an immeasurably powerful gigabit-thaum lightening bolt directly on Commander Samuel Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch as he wrestles with a deranged murderer atop a skylight that caps the library that houses the largest collection of magical books in this or any other universe.
In other words, there is a rare convergence of power, time and space that flings Vimes some thirty years into the past. There, a responsibility arises…Vimes must intercede in, what to him, would have been a history a few hours ago but what is now an ongoing crisis.
What follows is a police story, political intrigue and a look at some favorite Ankh-Morpork characters when they were quite a bit younger, including Lance-Constable Sam Vimes in his mid-to-late teens, just a few days into his Watch career and in desperate need of a good role model…which the elder Vimes supplies.
And all done up with Pratchett’s unique wit. For me, this man ranked with Monty Python, P.G. Wodehouse Beyond the Fringe…name the best British wits other the last 100 years and Terry Pratchett can meet and hold his own among them.

I think this is my favorite discworld book. It has everything. Vimes centric, time travel, and a good villain. Would recommend to anyone who liked any of the other discworld books or potentially as a place to start. I started with the colour of magic which was fun but not as fun. Definitely dont need to be read in order, only a select few are continuations.
