I am concerned mostly about losing my faculties and becoming a pain in everyone’s ass. I also don’t want to have my 8 yr old daughter see her father change into someone else. His kids all reacted differently but they all love him no matter what. Reading that gave me peace. This book has given me hope that, while I’m inevitably going to be a pain in everyone’s ass, I need to fight as long and as hard as I can to stick around for the people that love me. My goal is to have Fox’s attitude, sense of realism and sense of humor during this not so fun journey ahead of me.

I was diagnosed with PD one year ago. I went home and googled it which lead to 15 minutes of research. I was done from that point on. No more research for me.
Everyone knows Michael J Fox and now I am him. I appreciate the work he has done and god bless him for all that he has been through. I felt it was obligatory that I read his book. I really didn’t or don’t want to read anything about Parkinsons but…..
The book is boring. Sorry but true and comes off as pompous. Fox dictates in diary form his daily errands and life activities…..Intl Flights, 1on 1 physical therapy, vacations in the Turks and Caicos with Kieth Richards, loving wife. That’s all fine and well and I am happy for you but how is this inspiring to those with PD ? Are you willing to share those experiences with others in real life or do we just get to live through you.
Sorry if this comes off as negative but I was expecting a deep insightful thought into his life with PD but instead It made me look at mine and wish I had the same support system.
Read if you want to feel inferior.

Audio No Time Like the Future narrated by Michael J. Fox
My Dad had Parkinsons, though not early onset. I saw my father in this book. I missed his smiles after his face began to look like stone. Though He could still tell a story that made us laugh.
Same is true of Michael J . He has some very funny comments and stories in this book.
He is also Real. How he struggles and struggles to place the golf ball on the tee until his time is up, losing 40 balls in one game.
My Dad struggled too…getting food to his mouth without dropping it on his shirt.
Michael J creates the painful comparison of his life then, ( sports cars and stunts) to his life now . The strong message is all about adapting to the hand we are dealt. Even when it is a shitty hand. I wish that everyone with Parkinsons had the support team like Michaels. But then his foundation is a big support to all. I hope they find a cure soon enough for Mike to experience. In the meantime, I find his gratitude inspiring.
