This is the story of Alex Winslow- the biggest rock God on the planet!
With that being said, he is an addict, fresh out of rehab, selfish, self absorbed, and about to go out on a world tour. Knowing how volatile Alex is and how fragile his sobriety is, his agent Jenna was determined to find him a “sobriety companion” aka a “nanny” as Alex saw it…enter Indigo Bellamy “Indie” aka “Stardust” Indiie is Alex’s NINTH “nanny” as he’s chased off the other 8 in DAYS! She’ll be no different, or so he thought

“I really can’t stress this enough, but i’ll try-your little mind games are not going to work- I’m keeping this job. Get used to me.”

God i LOVE a feisty take no crap female!!!! Indie is a loaner, who is happy to spend her time in her room sewing her clothes when she’s not spending time with her baby nephew who is in desperate need of surgery for ear tubes. Since her parents were killed, her brother was her family…then his girlfriend became his wife, and her nephew was born, and her family grew, but the absence of her mother and father had its effects on Indie AND Craig (her brother) Craig drinks too much, was without a job again, bills were piling up…this job, the paycheck – would take care of sooo much! First and foremost her nephews surgery and her family’s bills and immidiate needs.
Three months, over 1/4 million, and 1 self absorbed bastard

“you’re such a bastard, calling you a bastard is an insult to every other bastard inhabiting the world. We need to find a new word for what you are”

But that’s the thing with “hate” -it is such a raw emotion, and such raw emotions have such passion behind them. Sometimes we don’t even notice it’s happening or to what extent – but at some point, that “hate” can turn into something “different”

While on tour, Alex is supposed to write a new album, but being heartbroken by his ex, Fallon who cheated on him with one of his best mates (did i forget to mention Alex is a BRITTISH rocker!?!- GAH!) hence the downward spiral that had him snorting enough coke to make a 5 tier wedding cake, he hasn’t been able to write a word…until he finds his muse in Indie.

Three months- the ONLY female on the tour, and not just ANY female, one that could care less who he is, one that makes him feel “real” – just one problem, Indie swore she would never sleep with him!. Alex is still in love with Fallon and vows to get her back…but until then….

“You should live, and make mistakes, and i’m offering to be one of those mistakes, because you have nothing to lose, we have an expiration date, we have a deadline, we have endless 5 hotel rooms and an album to write and your family to save, and just ******* admit it – all arrows point in the same direction – US. The thing about building up walls is they CAN come down, with enough persistence haunted with passion, walls tend to crumble!

He was handsome, no way around it! But Indie was able to catch rare glimpses into Alex she didn’t think even his mates saw much of anymore.

“i had no illusions about Alex’s nature. He was an addict and a tortured soul, and he wasn’t going to stick around. But this felt like everything. This made me settle for ‘now’ instead of ‘forever’ ”

But even “now” was short lived, shorter than thought. One night in Paris,

one fateful encounter,

one unimaginable secret
and “now” was gone

Will Alex go into another coke fueled downward spiral washed away with alcohol?

a brilliantly written story that had me wanting to slap the crap out of Alex and yell at him “wake the hell up!” then had me wanting to cry for the crumpled empty shell of the beast he was.

WOW. I need a minute to compose myself. Be right back. Ok, I’m back. Wait. Nope. No. Not yet. Sorry. Give me a few.

Ok, I think I’m ready to write this review. But how on Earth does one put into words what I just read???? Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, cue the hair pulling. This is 2nd L. J. Shen book I’ve read so far, and I can honestly say her books are da bomb!!!! The combination of an amazing characters paired together with unbelievable plot takes you on a whirlwind of emotions. And it happens here. I’m had my heart in ny throat half the book. And the last 30% of the book will make you quit on life cause you just have to know what happens. It’s like a drug, and you’re hooked. You need more and by the time you’re done you’ll want the next fix, cause this one got you high.

You know, this is the part where I was gonna write something short aboth the plot, and how amazing it is. How great the characters are. And how through all the assholness of it all this book comes together amazingly. How it’s a total page turner. How once you pick it up it’s impossible to put it down. Cause there’s no need to go into that. I’ll simply say. Read this book. Buy it, get someone to get it for you, or simply steal it (just make sure you can take it to prison with you) cause this one is worth it. Book of the year people. Book of the year.

FYI, this book is soooo much better if red with music in the background

Vicious is what had me fall in Love with L.J.s work, she has the talent of creating jerkface men that you love and hate all at the same time. And you wonder how in the hell someone can see past his or her a-hole ways and find love. But yes, its possible and she proved it again with Alex Winslow in Midnight Blue.

Alex, a rock god, an addict nearly on the edge of self-destruction with one too many marks against himself. Needs to make a comeback in the most positive way to fix the trail of a disaster he left behind him. Still dealing with the betrayal of the woman he loved and his best friend. He sets off on his tour with his newest babysitter in tow, Indigo Bellamy. More than anything he wants her gone, but eventually changes his mind and has better plans for her.

Indie needs this job more than anything to help her family out. Just like Alexs world is crumbling around him, Indies has fallen apart and shes at the point where shes afloat and content with her life. A nephew she absolutely adores and a family shed do anything for. A brother who is just angry and became a different person when both of their parents were killed and cant seem to just be there for his girlfriend and son. Indie tries to keep everything together with her family especially when it seems to be a tough thing to do when she learns that she has to babysit the biggest kid in the world. Goal, finish the job and make it out alive with her heart intact.

Two broken souls, 3 months, traveling around the world with a chemistry to burn down the world. What will come of these two by the end, with an ever so persistent Alex who is honest with his intentions for these 3 months. How will it take for Indie to give in even when she knows shell end up broken in the end.

HOLYYYYYY! I havent had a book in so long where I wanted to highlight every line! Yes, I was already a fan of Shens work, but Midnight Blue secured the deal permanently. Every word bled off the page in such a sad, but beautiful way. Its nearly heartbreaking. As much of a douchebag Alex was, you can see all that pain he hides away. But Indie isnt blind to it all. If anything, she completely understands it in her own way.

I love a girl who isnt afraid to speak her mind and talk back. She can deal with Alex in a way many cant or just refuses to because they just get tired of his antics. Shes a fighter and will never let down!

Alex is honest, so honest that he knows hell break Indie. But not before he takes her. Hes gritty and raw, and just too darn sexy for his own good. Ever since he lost the woman who betrayed, its been his goal to get in Indies pants and reclaim what once was his. Displaying this facade to go after his ex all while staring down and pursuing whats in front of him. Something more that youll all realize, but will be waiting for him to see, too.

Little by little, they chip away each others walls and its a glorious sight to see. Be prepared to feel every little thing with these two. Its an emotional rollercoaster Ive never imagined going on, but I loved every moment. Line for line I loved it all and I could never get enough. And I seriously want Alexs album, those songs are amazing and I want to listen to them forever.

Midnight Blue is a book I can read over and over again and re-live every raw emotion it emits. A book that bares its soul where youll feel it down to your bones. Highly recommend this read, you wont regret it!

After chapter 5 I was going to give up as the writing is so choppy, the jerky stuttering sentences and incorrect multiple use of commas was driving me nuts. Add that to almost all of the characters being dropped in a short space of time and the shifting tenses and I put my iPad down. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and it needs better editorial eyes over it. A friend convinced me to carry on and I’m glad that I did as the story is brilliant and I loved it. Alex is your classic hyped up bad boy rock star, he’s lost and viscous, he’s violent and sarcastic. But he has a passion and tenderness that are very compelling. When he lost Tania I felt his pain. Indie is tough and determined, talented in her own right, a far gentler forgiving soul than Alex. The sexual tension between the two is electric, there is sex and it’s hot and passionate and written in a very fresh way, none of the over used cliches. The interaction of the other characters is engaging as well, leaving me thinking there could be spin off books. I like the Anglicisation of Alex, so much better than I have read from an American author before, he’s English for a start and not “British”, there are a few blips but overall a great job. (The TV programme is The Mighty Boosh not The Mighty Bush, sorry that did make me laugh) I like the nickname Waitrose it shows how sarcastic and withering Alex is, but Lewis’s background is hardly Waitrose territory more Tesco Express. The twists are brilliant, and the ending a good one. I recommend this book, it’s a page turner once you get going.

This book shows that sometimes to love, to fix, to forgive and be forgiven you need to totally destroy, break the heart and shatter the soul!!

Because sometimes glue is simply not enough…

The kind of book that you love and hate, the story you want to know but you are scared to read about… The love that needs more than just pure feelings but all the darkness deep within our souls.

This book, this hero…

At first you hate him truly and deeply and you think I won’t fell for him I won’t understand him… But then you will find a glimpses of hope that you will simply lost in seconds in his deep and dark soulless heart…

This hero won’t turn from frog into a prince after first kiss… It will take him long, long time and then some to stop being selfish and self-centred arse… you will almost lost all the hope just to discover that even the deepest blue deeps of the ocean get a sun rays once in a while…

The heroine will fight make you proud even if she will lost few battles on her way…

The twists will come and will shatter her and his unstable world…

I was surprised it took a lot longer than I thought for the hero to open his eyes… I was feeling disappointed in him… after so many words, so many heartbreaks he still was treating Blue like a temporary toy almost just to the end… The ending almost killed me I was so scared that they won’t be together… that forgives will definitely come but at the price of separated lifes…

So much was based on The Little Prince book one of the most beautiful and powerful ever written… it was like a double stab to my heart. It has broken many times during reading it but brought back to love in the most beautiful ways… My heart definitely found his little perfect blue planet

Amazing read but you need to wait to the very end to see it’s beautifully deep blue soul.
