The story carries on with a new battleship i.e HMS Invincible which was given a mission to track down an alien race. The humans have faced many aliens and now it is not a new thing for the people living in the colonies. But here it is a deadly virus that has engulfed many living creatures in the past and now it is coming for humans. When the virus enters the body of a living being it just plagues the body of its host and he becomes a savage and mindless being.
PARA BELLUM
The virus is not only deadly for humans but it is equally dangerous for the aliens as well. Thus the enemies during A Small Colonial War and Vanguard are now friends as they have one common goal i.e to get rid of the virus before it ends everything. Christopher G. Nuttall has kept on playing with different races in this series and the joining of hands of humans and aliens is something we never expected in the story.
Both races need each other as they cannot face the enemy on their own. Meanwhile Invincible has an agenda of its own which it must fulfill before returning to the earth. Ralph Lister through narration inculcates fear in the minds of the listeners this time as the situation becomes very scary.
