Peace, Blood, and Understanding

 

Meadow has an interesting backstory, power variant, and showed good character growth. Her love interest(s)… Not so much. Her initial fella goes off the deep end quick when the pushy nemesis/love interest yo-yos toward the romantic end of his interest-disdain spectrum. No actual explanation of where this privacy-invading behavior came from is offered or sought. There are info dumps more than there are demonstrations of the new-love-interest having a likeable personality. When this kind of thing went down with Collin and Miranda, the winning-her-over-despite-having-been-a-jerk process was much more convincing. Nevertheless! While I was meh about the romance, seeing the Half-Moon Hollow crew again was delightful – Jane and Dick and Iris and everyone, plus the mystery of the saboteur, kept the story rolling along, with Meadow\’s problems with her past invading her present making up for the lackluster bits.

Welcome back to Half-Moon Hollow. In this installment Jane and Dick are being audited by the council for their unorthodox methods. Jane is supervising new made vampire Meadow’s rehab who has managed to catch the eye of the auditor Erik. This all sounds very soap opera but it really isn’t it is just my weak way of saying this story has layers on layers and is all the more fantastic because of it. This is a terrific addition to the series.

The characters and the storylines of this series are so enjoyable, I wish a new book came out at least every three months. The main characters in this book were so well written. Complete opposites, and yet it worked. Having some of the recurring characters made it even better because they\’re so much fun. I would hate it if they were left out. I missed the lol humor of the Half-Moon Hollow series. The author\’s new series isn\’t as humorous, and the witty banter in this series is an addiction. The mystery in this one was suspenseful and had me guessing. Of course, I was wrong, but that\’s one of the things I love most about this funny series. The books aren\’t predictable.

If you are a Molly Harper fan this book is a fun return to Half Moon Hollow. I have liked all the books she wrote but I always loved the Hollow which launched her career. We get a new character and follow her through the Hollow and the characters we love. No spoilers here, but expect to be entertained with her usual fine humor. It was enjoyable to see the Hollow again, but I had a sad feeling this might have been a good bye tour and can only hope that was false feeling.

I read almost all my books from kindle unlimited, the only exception being Molly Harper supernatural books. I love all the Half-Moon Hallow books. Jane and her friends are hysterical and totally other price. My only upset is she doesn\’t write them frequently enough. Please release another one soon
