I was semi hesitant to open Perfect Scoundrels since I wasn’t totally enamoured with Uncommon Criminals. Some of the problems I had were fixed in this novel, though some still remained. However, this book would be a well-crafted finale, but I hope someday we will get to hold that fourth book in our hands and join the gang once more!
I really love the crew in these books. Something that Carter always excels at is group dynamics and it’s such a pleasure reading the group scenes, always! I love that Gabrielle and Kat have grown so close. Simon and the Bagshaws are some of my favorite side characters ever and of course one simply cannot not love W.W. Hale the fifth.
In Perfect Scoundrels we officially meet some of Kat’s family who we haven’t seen yet (about time, dare I say! also, this was incredibly hilariousespecially uncle Felix hah) and there are other key players in this story of high-stakes who I loved to meet and am hoping we will see in the future as well if that fourth book indeed happens. Also, we get more background for Marcus who is always such a joy to have following along with our group.
The villain in this story is in the league of villains in Gallagher Girls final books tbh. They are really freaking awful and it’s definitely a darker story than the previous installments in the Heist Society stories. I liked all the twist and turns that came upon our crew and the villain; it certainly made for an exciting, high-stakes game of cat and mouse where the outcome may not always be exactly what you’re expecting.
As for the problems, I still feel like we should/could know more about the Bagshaws, Simon and Gabrielle; also, the other families’ aspect is very much under developed still. I’d also like to know more about these heist moves that are named by all these famous things like classic lit and whatnot, not just have heist names being thrown out there for two pages. I now basically gloss over them because they don’t really have any point to them especially when it’s not explained how that “trick” works.
As a whole though, I would totally recommend these books to everyone. While they aren’t jumping ahead Gallagher Girls in my favorites list, they’re certainly quick and entertaining reads that everyone should give a try to. Friendship, family, mystery, high stakes, traveling across the globe (mostly Europe though) and a spark of romancethese books have it all, except more kissing which would always be appreciated in Ally’s books [though this installment does include its fair share of smooching here and there :)]. Nooooow, let’s hope we really do get that fourth book, because I’d love to tag along for at least one more epic heist with this fantastic crew!

This is a great heist story that concludes the Heist Society trilogy. In this episode, Hale is called home because of the death of his beloved grandmother Hazel. Hale has been Kat’s friend and colleague since she stole him from his grand home when he was thirteen or so. They have had adventures and run cons all over the world. But now, Hale seems to be pulling away from Kat as he grieves for his grandmother and gets sucked into the drama of his family.
When Hale’s minder calls on Kat to meet with his sister who spent over 60 years as Hazel’s maid, Kat learns that they believe that Hazel’s will has been switched. The current will leaves Hale the whole of the Hale Company with the company’s lawyer as his guardian until he reaches his majority. Kat and her family immediately begin to investigate the lawyer while keeping the investigation from Hale.
Kat needs to call in her whole family to run a con on a man who is already running a big con of his own. I was a little worried that Hale and Kat’s relationship would be ruined by the changes in his circumstances but I loved the way things worked out.
It was fun following the twists and turns of this convoluted plot. It was also great to reconnect with other characters from the earlier books in this trilogy.

Audiobook Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter
I really enjoyed this book, but I dont have much to say. The characters, especially Kat and Hale, matured a lot in this book. They had to face more personal struggles.
Hale and Kats relationship (and friendship) has always interested me. And I love that its continuing to grow-naturally. Plus, Kats familys reactions toward this changing relationship were hilarious.
Unlike the Gallagher Girl books these books dont seem to have an over-arching plot. This makes me wonder-is this the last book in the series? It could go either way, but I would like another book. Mostly I need to know what Hales real name is.

Audio Perfect Scoundrels narrated by Angela Dawe
I absolutely loved this book. To be honest when I bought the first book it was more of sceptical buy. I hadn’t heard of the author nor come across any if her books. I’m a huge fan of the show White Collar so I decided to give this book a chance and honestly I am so glad I did.
Kat takes on a different challenge. This time the client isn’t a stranger, this time its someone very close to her. Hale.
I loved this book, I don’t know if I will read it again but it was a good book. This book allows us to delve into the character of Hale more than we have been allowed to in the previous two books. You see there is depth to Hale he is more than just an inside man, he is more than the jets and fancy cars and fancy hotels. He also seems to have a bit of a backbone. Furthermore you feel emotionally connected to Hale and Kat. With Hale when his grandma dies and how he is treated by the family and with Kat how she learns to deal with Hale how they become stronger and also Uncle Eddie is credited more in this book, in fact he plays a huge part as well as Marcus.
Once again I loved the gang, I love Gabrielle and Uncle Eddie and Simon and of course Kat and Hale but I love Hamish and Angus the most. They provide the comedy and the little subtle laughs. I love how Hamish and Angus have the power to lighten up a tense situation.
The one thing I would say though is the storyline is a little bit predictable. The villain’s motives are to teach the Hales a lesson. The Hales are too greedy and that needs to be stopped, blah blah blah. It doesn’t overshadow the good writing and the cool characters.
I am looking forward to more Heist Society novels in the future.

I am a mother who likes to read books before suggesting them yo my 13 year old daughter. My daughter had just finished reading Malorie Blackman series of books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I want to steer her to another style of fiction so I’ve been reading the Heist Society. Superb read for teenage girls. Shows that action hero’s do not always have to be male. The main character Kat is a young lady who is already showing characteristics of a strong independent empowered woman. But also reveals that being strong and in control does not mean you have to be heartless and insensitive. At the tender age of 15 Kat shows strength, leadership, loyalty and friendship. An excellent role model for the modern young woman.
