By the end of Duel Nature, Chris is essentially a demi-god. He can match the Darkkin’s greatest fighters blow for blow, he can turn ancient vampires to ash with a thought, and his Grim personality is nothing short of a machine designed to kill as efficiently as possible. He is quite simply too powerful, and Conroe seems to have realized it, as Fallen Stars is designed to reign Chris in, without removing his history.
It’s nice to have the chance to see Chris on his own, away from Lydia, Nika, and Tanya for a change, and for the bulk of FS, he is accompanied by Stacia Reynolds, the werewolf he saved from George Lassiter early on in the series. Their friendship is a delight to read, and though she is tested more than once, Stacia proves herself to be a true and loyal friend. But more than anything, FS is a turning point. The next book in the series follows the POV of Declan, a young witch with a gift for technology, who is perhaps my favorite character in the series. The world of the Demon Accords is much larger than just Chris and his friends, and this is where it all begins.

Fallen Stars audiobook in series The Demon Accords
If I had listened to the first review of Conroes first book in his Accord series I would have missed out on everything. I have been reading this series non stop from the first book and have no intention of stopping until the very end.
Conroes non typical style of world and character building is quite unique. I like that I learn a little bit more about his characters and their world with each new book in the series. He makes these side stories and jump to heart of the real story he wants to tell.
He doesnt spend 5 books wasting time world and character building while readers wait for the real fun at book 8. Amazing.
Goes to show that following norms whether its writing a book or building a plane doesnt make the end result any less enjoyable or awe inspiring than others. In fact this series is one of the most enjoyable Ive read in a while.
Conroe doesnt pretend that this isnt a story and he spins it in the he wants it to be while keeping it as real as it possible can. I love it!
I cant fathom why folks want to read fiction, yet want the stories to be non-fiction at the same time.
As far as Im concerned an author weave a story any which way it comes to them. Its suppose to be a story that entertains and engage. Full stop. Its an not English Literature… or it could be if u want to confuse yourself.
I love every single book so far. I will follow this series to the very end and hope he has loads more stories to share.
Keep it up mister!

Fallen Stars audiobook by John Conroe
I can’t believe how much the first four books fascinated me. I have actually read each twice in one week! I really like what Tanya and Chris have come to be. Lydia is a blast! Nika, Gina and Senka characters are developing very nicely! Now comes the 5th book (this book) and after completing it I am extremely irritated. The first four books could be from a completely different series. The main characters are changed to the point that I no longer care about them. Feels like the author hates his characters and just wanted to start over, but decided that was too much and instead just wrote this book to end the series. End it terribly too. I see the sixth book is out, but different characters/perspective. Right now I have zero interest in reading it or any future books by this author. I actually want to delete this book from my kindle and just tell myself that this series concluded with the fourth book.

Fallen Stars audio narrated by James Patrick Cronin
I do like the series, the characters and the action but what I am seeing is that the stories are wrapped up too quickly with little to no stress; what I mean is that a conflict is resolved without any real drama and is too tidy. I like this writer but he isn’t on the level of Butcher, Schaeffer, and Kadrey who are tops in this genre. I like the series enough to keep buying and reading but if he slowed down and wrote the drama better the books would be better

I’ve read all the books in this series in about 2 days. I really ought to review the earlier books, but Whenever an Author is too good, this is often the result: You don’t review right away in your haste to read the sequel. Oh well. My impression:
– Excellent. The one criteria that trumps all others, is if the books is engrossing enough that you forget everything else. it is.
– Interesting twist on the urban vampire theme. I think this is possibly the first time I’ve seen paranormal phenoma explained with subatomic particles and quantum physics. A good and bad idea in my opinion. A good because it’s fresh, and interesting, a bad idea because this brings magic firmly in the domain of science, and makes our mind want to understand the logic of it instead of just using our usual suspension of disbelief. for me it failed the logic test when it comes to explaining their power over gravity and inertia, so I went back to using my suspension of disbelief. better to explain magic…with…magic Mr Conroe.
– Deus ex Machina: I’ve seen vampires and Angels/Demons themes mixed before. But I am not too comfortable with bringing element of current religions in fantasy books, let alone God himself/herself. It smacks too much of Deus ex machina imho, as we know that God’s side won’t lose of course. so it destroys the element of unpredictability in the plot that makes for the best books in my opinion. For good measure, he added Pagan Gods, and God-lings, and fae, and elves. The variety could be real fun, but I wonder how he’ll reconcile all of that with the central position he’s given to judeo-christian tradition in his plot.
– I don’t think the central character is overly powerful as earlier reviewers. it’s all about how you manage a story and how he interacts with the other characters and the structure and evolution of the plot. it’s not about how much or how little power one character has. I’ve read story where Godly entities where central characters, but the story was well written. This is what matters. the story.
I’ll give it a five. There are a couple of thing I’d wish where different, but overall, I’ve enjoyed the read too much to be churlish.
