Reap What You Sow

It’s an outlandish story, but one that sucks you in. I had almost forgiven the writer of his errors in other storyline, but then he mixed up the main character in this book and the other series. Hope it doesn’t continue. His name is Jason not Kyle!!!

Reap What You Sow audiobook Series Seasons of Man

He’s a very prolific writer and extremely knowledgeable in regards to military equipment and lingo. The books move quickly, so expect to miss sleep reading them. Now, for the bad. I had a problem with the two major women characters, Rachel and Michelle. Michelle was supremely unlikable because of her temper. In reality, you wouldn’t want her to manage a convenience store, much less a group this size. I also hated the political commentaries that are more based in social networking gossip or extremist ideology and less in sourced reality. It was disappointing because I really like his writing style.

Audiobook Reap What You Sow by S.M. Anderson

Enjoyed the pacing of the storyline as well as the examination of human responses to an extreme and unusual event. Unfortunately, our own history provides a vast array of possible and likely outcomes. There were a lot a characters, sometimes confusing to keep straight, but many characters that you want to follow and see where their fictional future ends. Engaging, and a well told story.

Audio Reap What You Sow narrated by Jay Snyder

I rarely give five star reviews. I gave four for the first book in the series, but the author is certainly keeping up the pace with this second in the series.

This book certainly delivers on the promise of the first novel. Gripping characters and an obvious knowledge of current military tactics lead to a blistering and hopeful ending – it’s a very well conceived vision of a post-apocalyptic world. Kudos times five Mr Anderson.

Great read. Spoiler alert.

This one starts with the Marines in the Hole. The Hole is a giant bunker full of weapons, ammo, military vehicles and tanks. The Marines have been there since the die off. Gunnery Sgt. Bruce is in command since the LT who was in command killed himself. Months under ground is hard to take. The LT isn’t the only one. They all want out. GS Bruce has the codes to get out but he knows he has to wait for those coming. They also have the codes. Bruce hopes they get to the hole soon.

At the Hotel Daniel and Michelle watching Pro on the tractor. They have planted in all the fields they have. Both are pleased. The folks from the Hotel are doing well but all are worried about Jason. A Jason who is gone on patrol. Rebecca is wondering if he will come back.

Jason has traveled North and is of two minds about going back to the hotel. Rebecca wants a life with him and he feels he is betraying his dearly loved wife who didn’t survive the plague. She was pregnant with their first child and he buried them in his back yard. He then went to a friends house. That friend was a big time prepper and both he and his wife didn’t survive. The house had solar panels for electricity and was stocked to the rafters with food, ammo and weapons. Its the place Jason decided would be his base.

Right now Jason has spotted TT units and follows them. They attack a small town, round up all survivors that survive. Jason notes these guys and gals really wanted to capture, not kill then survivors. He follows and winds up and college campus. The the buildings have lights and there are hundreds of people there. Jason knows these folks aren’t far from the Hotel and he knows the Hotel is undefendable. He heads back to let the others know what he has found.

Colonel Skirjanek and his people, including the Russians, have made it back to the US on the USS Boise a nuclear sub. A sub that the Captain sank after they all hit the shore. Now the Colonel needs to get to the hole.

So begins one damned fine read.

This one has Jason, Rebecca, Pro, Daniel, Michelle, Lisa Potter the leader of the college crew, General Marks who heads the military end of the place, Pavel the Russian Spetsnaz officer who is the Colonels right hand, GS Bruce and his marines, an attempt by Skirjanek to contact those at the college that ends in death, Ray a man traveling with a group that ends up at the hotel, a Michelle who doesn’t trust any of that group, Carla and older woman who seems to be the leader, a woman who is more that she appears to be and Jason Larson the ex Army Ranger who will do his best to help the Colonel, protect those dearest to him, survive and stay alive.
