I usually love Kadohata\’s work. For me this book was a letdown, far off the standards set by her best work. The girl protagonist, Becca, is annoying. The runaway pig she adopts is hugely annoying. Her parents, who stand by docilely while this pig repeatedly wrecks their house, are also annoying. In fact, the entire setup reminded me of a sitcom TV show. Becca is part of a crew of quadruplets but the special bonds of being multiples didn\’t figure largely in the narrative. It could just as easily have been a family of four kids. One of Becca\’s brothers, Bailey, has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair but this was another thing I felt got short shrift. I did enjoy the interactions between the kids and felt those were realistic and funny. I wish I had waited and borrowed the book from the library.

This was an awesome book. Love of family and animals emphasized. This was fast paced and endearing. Middle school kids and adults alike will love the piggy escapades. Each of the quadruplet kids comes to life with contemporary themes and issues. Their loving and supportive parents help them discover their true selves. I have read several books by this author, all excellent reads.

Audiobook Saucy by Cynthia Kadohata
I appreciate that this is well written and even fun in the beginning chapters, but strongly disagree with teaching children that theft is an acceptable approach to problem solving, even if there is a moral dilemma. This book definitely teaches that there are no consequences for theft. The theft of the pigs at the end of this story comes close to felony-level rustling or theft and probably would be in certain states and locations. If you don\’t like commercial farms – okay, teach the kids about protesting. But, promoting this kind of theft is just not okay.

Audio Saucy narrated by Mizuo Peck
Best kids author that you\’ve probably never heard of – probably because Disney hasn\’t made a movie out of one of her books YET. My hairdresser\’s daughter teaches fifth grade and says her kids love these books, so I decided to read Saucy. What a fun, heart-warming tale with a strong, young heroine in Becca. Wake up Disney!!

i overall thought this book ws pretty good. The drawings were cute the sassy pig was cute i just didnt like that they were not stroct at all with saucy. she demolished the kitchen and they just cleaned it up without disiplining her at all. I had a pig and we had to be really strict on her or else she would go crazy.
