Son of the Morning

If I could rate this book it would be a 10 out of 5. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read this book, listened to the CD, even how many soft back copies I have carried around. And i read an average of 3-5 books a week. The characters, the time travel, the story, even the message makes this book, well worth reading at least once…if not like me, a keeper at the top of the list. I like all of Linda’s books. This is a mixture of romance, time travel, murder and mystery, and even has a Christian layer. One for any age or sex. Enjoy.

Another good story well written by one of my favorite authors. this was recommended by an author I recently read because it had an unforgettably hot alpha male. Boy does ever! Going to be a while before I forget him. It was a really interesting story that kept my interest –I read a little then when I had to do something in the house–I listened to the audible book. The audible narrator brought this tale to life. I will enjoy the audible version a lot more before I get my “fix” on this story. The dream scenes were something else. No cliffhanger. HEA. If you are not taking advantage of the audible versions of the kindle books, you are missing a lot of enjoyment. You can read a little then listen a little.

I’m not usually into the “fierce Scottish Highlander” romance books so I was surprised that I liked this book a lot. Of course Black Niall doesn’t really make an appearance until a ways into the book. Grace is a very likeable character. I could admire her for the courage it took to run successfully the way she did after seeing her husband and brother murdered. Linda Howard made her a smart heroine to be able to survive the way she did for nearly a year all the while translating the documents her loved ones were killed for. The time travel aspect also was an added bonus as was the premise of the Knights Templar treasure being hidden in Scotland. I’ve heard that theory before so it was most interesting that Linda Howard chose to tie it into this novel. All in all it was a good and exciting read.

I know Son of the Morning was written several years ago, but it is so wonderful, engaging and unforgettable, I re-read it every year. I wish Ms. Howard would write another book along the same lines because she has a such talent for writing time travel romance/adventures. The closest comparison and highest praise I can give is to rank Son right up there with Jude Deveraux’s ‘Knight in Shining Armour’ (another favorite of mine that I love to re-read). I guarantee you will love this book and never, ever forget it. Thank you for bringing so much pleasure to so many readers Ms Howard.

I’ve been longtime fan of Linda Howard’s early work. Her recent stuff has been not so good. Ice was appalling, Prey was ehh so I’ve resorted to rereading & reviewing her earlier work.
I ummmed & ahhhhed about reading this book for so long cos I’m so NOT into paranormal romance but boy was I glad I took chance on this one.
The storyline was so well written. It was tight, suspenseful & well paced. Graces metamorphosis was fantastic to watch. She went from sheltered academic to tough survivor throughout the book.
Her connection to Niall was strong & emotional. Yes there was only a small part of the book that they were together but the visions & the buildup were awesome so when they finally met…WOW
