This story picks up quickly where the original left off, and continues the story of the main characters who survived the the first adventure. The action scenes are well described and move fluidly from page to page. It certainly leaves itself open for a third book, which would make sense with trilogies being a central aspect of story arcs inside the Star Wars Universe.

The book allows for a new reader to jump right into the story without much confusion for not having read the first novel. In fact, it sets up the story and characters (with the exception of Starkiller, the main character) better than the first book. The concept of who the individuals are, and what goals they are trying to achieve are well designed within the story rather than finding some critical info needed chapters later.

Parts do seem a bit tedious when the female protagonist (Juno Eclipse) seems to ponder the questions of how someone who had died in the first book could be alive now. However, the story does not dwell to long before jumping into an action scene on the level of the final acts from any of the films. It would have also been nice to see certain characters with a bit more of story development, but as the main focus is on the four main players (Starkiller, Juno Eclipse, Rham Kota, and Darth Vader) it is hard to fit it in with the events enfolding around everyone. As this is based on a video game, many scenes can be envisioned as right out of possible game play.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read. The story is basically one huge action scene moving quickly from one location to the next. If you like the expanded universe books, it will not disappoint.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II series Star War

The story starts with the Sith apprentice Galen Marek aka starkiller awakens on kamino where vader gives starkiller a test to kill jedi Rahm kota on Malastare, I think it’s malastare. After vader kills a proxy droid taking the form of juno eclipse starkiller snaps and escapes to malastare. After saving kota and killing the beast known as the gorog from baron tarkos arena starkiller asks kota on the info where juno eclipse is. Kota says he doesn’t know then scolds him on him trying to find juno and not fight the empire. Starkiller gets the idea on going to the planet dagobah. Starkiller goes to the cave on dagobah called the cave of evil and finds out juno is on the ship the salvation. The ship is then is almost immediately attacked by boba fett. Boba fett takes juno to kamino where vader awaits. Starkiller fights vader but is convinced not to kill him by kota. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because of the ending it ends with the rebels taking vader to a rebel base to interrogate him with Boba fett hot on their trail and it just, ends,Sean Williams everybody. Anyways that’s it I guess, so bye. Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun

Audiobook Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II by Troy Denning

I love Sean Williams’ work. He is an exciting author that understands how to position and develop Star Wars characters. I did not realize until book 2 that Starkiller is in fact Anakin Skywalker in reverse. The irony is not lost on me and helps readers understand his fatal connection with Darth Vader. Whereas Anakin became a Jedi and ruined the entire order to pursue power and the freedom to live openly with Padme, Starkiller abandons the Sith order for the Rebel Alliance to become a Jedi to protect Captain Juno Eclipse. The paths they take are not terribly dissimilar and this is further “proof” in the Star Wars world of how close the Jedi and the Sith really are. Scratch a Jedi find a Sith. The Force Unleashed, if I had to identify what I dislike about it, seems like a retread of the first novel in the beginning and the storyline is advanced so quickly that it feels like a middle book suffering from trilogy syndrome. Read it, enjoy it,and then beg for Williams’ third and final Unleashed book next October.

Audio Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II narrated by Marc Thompson

I really enjoyed the first book. It was thrilling and difficult to put down. This book was not quite the same. Parts of it were similar to the first book, the first part wondering when Mini and Starkiller kept missing each other. It was interesting to see the rebel command leadership at odds. I also liked seeing a Jedi General in Kota. The ending was unexpected, I have to think on this. The last thing I expected was a somewhat happy ending. That was good, Vader, I’m still ruminating over. It’s similar to Fatal Alliance, which took a while to grow in me. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. Jonathan Davis was excellent in his narration as usual.

This book is a great addition to the star wars novels. I love to listen to this exciting tale of how the rebels came to be to battle the empire for control of the galaxy. It is a wonderful story about a syth who finds out who he really is and to quote a phrase from the star wars movies. “He found the good in himself.” For the action fans, This book is great because you not only get narration, but you also get music and sound effects from the films when action occurs in the book. I recommend any other star wars book on audio.
