I have followed the sea faring life of John Pearce from the beginning of the series. It is a good read. I find the entertwing the life of Captain Barclay and John Pearce an interesting bonus. The author use4s the arcaic language of the time often in the book and sometimes Many times I have to use my dictionary on my Kindle to find the meaning for words used in the story. But I enjoy the challenge of un known words. I believe a good editor could have made some of the author’s sentence more clear. I found myself needing to reread some sentences two oir thnree times to get the meaning. And one picky point: The author uses the word “growled” as in “Get off the ship!”, he growled, a bit too much. But that is picky. I enjoy sea faring stories and I will read all the John Pearce novels.

The Admirals’ Game audiobook in series John Pearce
If you are addicted to sea stories with lots of action, great plot and written by an author with a feel for ships and men of the era of sail, this is a book for you. Once started you will truly hate to put it down and will hate to see the last page.

Audiobook The Admirals’ Game by David Donachie
I recommend you read the whole series of John Pearce as the plot builds over time.On their own each book can be read in isolation but now I am nearly finished the series I have enjoyed each one as his life unfolds.
If you enjoy sailing ships in the 17th 18th century you will have trouble putting these books down.I am a David donniche fan

If marine historical politics is your bag this is for you. I f you want the salty atmosphere of sailing ships and men in the time of Nelson look elsewhere folks
Another good solid story, poor John Pearce still comes up frustrated but the bad guys are getting nervous. I want the story to continue but would like to see Pearce win a round once in a while.
