The novel started good enigmatiquely but continued as a tele-novel. The fact that the author mixed jewish people and lesbians does not make the novel interresting

This is a good book. I stop there with a simple phrase because it is just that, i.e., good. This is not a\” must read\” but it certainly does keep your interest and desire to read on. I think the ending is quite predictable and even knowing that, you will be anxious to read on. I enjoyed the diversity and phrases in German and French. These phrases were used superbly, even if you do not speak those languages. It\’s a good book; not great.

Audiobook The Girl with the Golden Scissors by Deborah Langton – translator Julia Drosten
I love stories with strong female characters and The Girl with the Golden Scissors does not disappoint. Born in a foundling home and abandoned by her mother, Fanny is raised by a kindly matron who teaches her that life is not always fair. After a series of failed attempts to earn her living by traditional means, Fanny strikes out to make her own way in the world. Once she has tasted independence, there is no turning back. She must eventually find a way to balance her own independence with the love and family she has always wanted in her life. I recommend this book for readers of women\’s fiction who enjoy a story of women who persevere and succeed against the archaic social mores of the time.

Audio The Girl with the Golden Scissors narrated by Kathleen Gati
Very interesting historically having just finished Ken Follett\’s Trilogy on Kindle and watched World on Fire on TV. The translation was impeccable. Using Wiki on the way is a great way of learning places in history. Another interesting factor was that a person very close to me only found out at age 60 who their father was. After reading about the authors and translator and the end of the book I can\’t wait for more of their books thru Kindle.

The young lady in the book was born in a foundling hospital. She was kept there and helped by a woman who secretly took an interest in her welfare. She learns much from this woman and her life takes a few turns with a surprise ending as to her paternity. A book that will keep you wondering.
