As with any Founding Fathers book I buy, I really wanted to like it. I was very disappointed. I was hoping this book would delve deeper into the relation ships of Adams, Hamilton, and Jefferson. This book is just a shortened biography of each man shoved I to one book. On top of that, the author continued old narratives that have been either disproven or questioned. For instance, historians have discovered that Hamilton was not born on January 11, 1755, yet the author ignores this fact and proceeds with it. There are many instances where the author chooses to write from memory instead of doing research. One can see this by the lack of notes. If you are new to the subject, it’s not a bad book. If you have been studying the Rev War for awhile, don’t bother, there is no new info here.

Revolutionary America is my favorite historical time period. When I discovered that the author of Forrest Gump wrote a book covering this period I immediately purchased it. I enjoyed it but I enjoy just about all books with this subject, and would not recommend it if you have not read any of the biographies or histories by Walter Isaacson, Ron Chernow, David McCullough, or Bernard Bailyn. Receiving 5 stars is very difficult for this category because the competition is so stiff.
This book focuses on the lives of Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. I am not a big fan of the structure, which is broken down into three segments with one chapter on each person per segment, with little overlap or integration. But, we are talking about Hamilton, Adams, and Jefferson, so you can’t really go wrong. The benefits of this book are that it is written by a skilled author and reads at a fast pace. You will be sure to learn something new but does not require much time to finish. It was an exhilarating time to be alive and the events that unfolded were some of the most significant turning points in history, filled with larger than life characters.
Highly recommend because of the importance of America’s history and the fascinating lives of the Founding Fathers.

Audiobook The Patriots: Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and the Making of America by Winston Groom
Great summary of the Revolutionary War, the beginning of this country, and the first three presidents, plus the First Secretary of the Treasury. Told in such great form by one of my favorite writers, Winston Groom, who can make these stories come alive, giving you so much insight into these three great Patriots.
