Another set of panties has been destroyed in the Godwick name!!!

The Godwick are well known for their love of all things sex…some more than others.

Arthur is not like his siblings, that is until he goes to rescue his brother once again. It seems his brother has racked up a bill with Regan, the owner of The Pearl.

Regan is a Dominant covering her sadness, Arthur is a submissive hiding his true feelings, and Malcolm is just sticking his nose in other people’s business like always.

But what could be? That book was perfect, and remains so every time I reread it.
The Rose was just ok, and this, The Pearl, is something less than.
It’s impossible to suspend disbelief when every page is a discussion of what is real and what is not. This was a formulaic romance without the special mystery and fantasy of The Red. Fans of The Red know Malcolm is real, and Mona Lisa threw caution to the wind to believe in him, too. So it’s beyond tedious to witness Arthur and Reagan play the “is he or isn’t he” game, especially at the expense of the special eroticism that defined The Red.

The art history theme became trite and gimmicky in this third installment, and too much of the previous novels was explicated in the course of telling this story. I wasn’t looking for a flashback rewind – I was looking for a more substantial sequel, a meaningful continuation of the same qualities that made The Red special.
Reagan and Arthur just didn’t work for me. I love the principle of an older woman and a younger man, so rare in the Romance world, but they were just such a cliche pair of the same people found everywhere in modern romance novels. There was no struggle, no mystery, just a plodding romance without chemistry.

As always, the return to the land of The Godwicks is surreal and magical. Thrown into the magic of art, paintings with meaning and things that go bump in the night. Tiffany Reisz never fails to amaze me with her her poetry and knowledge of history, art and mythology. Lord Arthur Godwick rarely takes what he wants because he fears what he wants is not the norm. Thrust into the world of The Pearl by his brother’s lack of common sense, he does what he has to in order to pay the debt his brother has with The Pearl’s owner Regan Ferry. A world of lust, revenge, twists and turns that make your heart stop is also a world of submission and domination that keeps you completely riveted until the end. Tiffany Reisz is a master storyteller and every one of her books is worth reading because you learn so much about history and about yourself.

I love the way that Ms. Tiffany treats men and women equally in her stories. She gives each gender what they desire by giving both power. This novel is sexy and wild, as well as intelligent. I want my own, personal Arthur…..all of us girls do. From beginning to end, Ms. Tiffany takes us on a fantasy ride that captures our lust and love. Keep those stories coming!

The Godwicks are back, and we are with the heir, Lord Arthur Godwick today. I love these books. The art, the fantasy, the fairytale…it’s so whimsical and magical and fun. The Red had Mona and Malcolm coming alive in the artwork, The Rose had Lia and August living in Greek mythology, but the Pearl only had a few examples of Lady Regan experiencing the same kind of thing. But Regan and Arthur sure have some fun times, and the story was quite unique. It is definitely up in my top reads of 2020.
