I’m giving this 5 stars before I finish it because Mr. Dickey deserves it. I was hooked from the first line and will not sleep until the last line! When people talk about leaving a legacy, this is exactly what he has done. Not just this novel but his entire body of work. He had a talent bestowed by his most high and he did not squander it. We are all better for it. Thank you. Enjoy your rest.

I cried at the end not because of the ending but because he’s been a main factor in my life for many years he will be sorely missed we were born the same year and his voice felt so personal to me

Audiobook The Son of Mr. Suleman by Eric Jerome Dickey
I picked up my first EJD novel in an airport years ago. I believe the novel was Milk in my coffee. I had not read in quite some time. Mr Dickeys work reignited my passion for reading. Since then, i have read all of his novels in addition to many others. I thank you Mr. Dickey for not only inspiring me to read again, but for also inspiring so many other to write. RIP EJD Much Love

Such a fantastic story from a prolific writer. The book centers around a black male professor dealing with the trauma of sexual assault, blackmail, racism and grieving the loss of his absentee father– a man he doesn’t know but who has effected him in more ways than just genetics. He seeks release with a mysterious biracial British woman with her own baggage and secrets unfamiliar with the world of American racism. Great selection for book clubs as there are so many layers and themes to discuss.
