I loved this book!! I’m a little sad that Apollo becomes a god. I cannot wait to see where Rick Riordan takes Nico and Will’s quest. My top priority however is this: Did anyone else catch the parts about Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase? If you didn’t, lemme lay it out for you. The mansion Rachel saw in Brooklyn was the headquarters for the 21 Nome. The penguin who was sighted on the balcony was one of Felix’s penguins. The meeting Chiron was occupied by with a cat and a severed head. The cat is Bast, guardian of Sadie and Carter Kane. The severed head is Mimir, Hearthstone and Blitzen’s former employer. Chiron speaks of one problem which concerns three different pantheons. I have been racking my brains and I cannot think of a single villan who could overlap multiple mythologies besides Setne, who is imprisoned inside of a snow globe. I am not sure if the problem will have the old protagonists or if Riordan will introduce old ones. Personally, I’m hoping for the old ones. I am not entirely sure whether Rick will introduce Nico’s quest or the collective problem of the three mythologies. I am ridiculously excited and in a few years, when the book has beedn published, you can all read this post and I will comment ‘I told you so!’ 😀 😉

I loved Apollo’s descent into mortality. He grew to be more human and we were there to watch his journey. I loved how the characters were described by Apollo, especially Nico and I loved Piper’s new relationship. I was a bit disappointed that not all predictions came true, such as Grover’s prediction that they would see each other before Apollo regained his immortality. As far as I can tell, they didn’t see each other again for the rest of the series. Overall it was a great story and I loved it!!

The Tower of Nero audiobook in series The Trials of Apollo

I’ve been reading the camp half-blood series since 2006 when I was in 6th grade. I grew up right alongside Percy and the gang. Throughout the years I’ve shared their laughs, tears, fear, and hope. While I’m sad to see the books end, I’m so proud of how far the series and characters have come. Our heroes and their stories will continue to live on in our hearts. Thank you Rick Riordan for the amazing adventures!

Audiobook The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan

This review contains spoilers, please take that into consideration.

I liked the humor and pacing and overall it was a good close to the series.

Apollo learning humanity and the joy and suffering it often comes with it. How we can still fight even when we think were at out last and lowest. About how you dont need to mold yourself to the people that surround you and that you definitely dont have to take their abuse towards you. That you can have friends and family (found or blood) to help you when you need it.

The final battle being of just Apollo and Python, as he had to regain his godhood while maintaining his humanity. Becoming a demigod for a few moments. Truly being one of them and the perils they face.

I loved the little Easter eggs about the new series and the little glimpses of the ones already existing.

That being said.
Im aware that Jasons death was supposed to make Apollo learn about how you could have your whole life ahead of you and still get the short end of the stick. About heroes and suffering and how gods tend to brush demigods apart and other things Im probably forgetting. But in this book… I dont know, I dont think I have the exact words to describe what I felt. Jasons death felt overused to the point that it felt like an excuse more than anything else.

First off, the pacing felt quick. Maybe thats because I came back from 500 to 600 paged novels, but still. I felt like it should have been longer, the battles and events more legthy and more detailed, given that this book (probably) is the final book set in the Percy Jackson universe. I had mixed feelings about this piece of work. It just didn’t give me the feelings I expected myself to have. Writing this review just after finishing this book, I’m feeling ‘Wait, it should be longer.’ and ‘Great work..but a bit lacking for my taste.’ Personally, I felt like TOA series were good in overall. Good, mind you, not perfect or anything. Although it was interesting to see a god turned to mortal and embarking on a journey, this book itself…I don’t know. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I felt like there should have been a major character death(besides jason) to make the story emotional, the battle more intense. For a book that was supposex to close the series, I fet like Riordan could have done more, made the book more emtional and stuff.
Four stars for the book. Good, but could have been better.
Now if you’d excuse me, I’ll go cry tears of sadness that the series is over
