We know that Piper is hiding something, to include her real name. Her chapters allude to things that went wrong in the past, particularly with former men. Its clear in her pursuance of Leo that this isnt her first rodeo. Joanna appears to be a wife whos simply trying to help Leo come out the other side of a depressive state. Each chapter alternates in perspectives between the two women.

For me, the story was initially frustrating as the reader witnesses Leo fall for Piper. Obviously, we know whats going to happen because of the novels synopsis, but its still annoying. Leo seems to be a real putz about the whole situation, dismissing Joanna as though she should just go softly into the night without hesitation. I found it ridiculous that he would be so cavalier, especially since he hadnt known Piper very long at that point. As the story progressed, there were several times where I thought to myself, what kind of crack is Leo smoking??

For the majority of the book, you see Joanna getting railroaded as shes painted by Leo and her therapist as paranoid. Once Leo has moved on, Joanna lives with her mother, whos a real pill; I had difficulty connecting to any of the characters in the story.
I started to wonder what the point was going to be or how thered be any changes/revelations made. It also seemed like there wasnt going to be really anything to learn about Piper, as the scenario seemed pretty clear. I got some vibes early on for what might be coming, but it seemed like it would make for a muddled conclusion. I prepared myself to be underwhelmed.

Turns out, I had NO idea what was coming. Very clever. However, though portions of the ending were gratifying, I felt like a large bulk of the novel was slow and plodding. I like there to be twists and turns throughout if a story is truly meant to be a thriller. This felt instead like I waited for paint to dry, and then there was a really cool painting at the end. I would have given three stars, except I didnt like that last bit of ambiguity/insinuation in the last paragraph; it rubbed me the wrong way.

For those that take this into consideration I dont remember any f-bombs, just the occasional mild curse word. There are a couple risqu scenes, but theyre short and theres no graphic sex.

I really enjoyed The Last Mrs Parrish so was excited when this came out. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed – the plot and especially the denouement were absolutely unbelievable, the characters all one-dimensional, and the ending was forced and sloppily cobbled together. I cannot believe I spent 14.99 on this – even 3.99 would have been a stretch. Save yourself the money.

Audiobook The Wife Stalker by Liv Constantine; Narrated by: Julia Whelan

Having read the authors other books, I was really excited to read this. I immediately clicked with the characters and was enjoying the book……until Leo falls for Piper and ends his relationship abruptly with Joanna. It seemed as if the character development completely ended. This smart, successful attorney suddenly became a Moron who was thinking with his wrong end. I find the plot so unbelievable and annoying. I kept reading because I thought I had figured it out. When Joanna gets a record for child abuse, I assumed something would happen to Stelli and she would wrongly be accused.

Unfortunately, the authors had a different scenario and one that came so far out of left field in the final chapters that I definitely feel very cheated.

Read The Last Mrs Parrish but skip this mess.

If the path be beautiful, let us not ask where it leads.- The Wife Stalker.

REVIEW: I was so excited when I heard that Liv Constantine was releasing another book because their previous book The Last Mrs. Parrish blew me away. This book is another great thriller with plenty of twists along the way. I really enjoyed reading this book and rated it four stars. I rated it this way because I felt that the majority of the larger twists happened fairly close to the end of the book, and I felt like a lot of the plot and twists had to be explained by the characters rather than showed and developed through the entirety of the book. However, once the whole plot is revealed, the whole book seems to change, so I think that this book would make for a good second read-through because of it, and to catch all the smaller details they play into the plot.

This book is told from the perspective of two characters: Joanna and Piper. I love these types of books where there are two main characters with intersecting plots. I felt that each character was very interesting and really pushed the story forward. I also felt that the other characters in the book were purposeful and added to the twists.

As with most thrillers, I think it is better to go in as blind as possible. While this book has some vaguely similar elements to The Last Mrs. Parrish it is very different and I think the plot is quite unique. I would recommend this to others who love thrillers, domestic thrillers, and of course those who loved Liv Constantines previous books. I think this is a good thriller for a nice summer read!
