I was pretty excited to read this book. It was my first by this author, and the cover drew me right in. I dove right in as soon as I could. The book started out okay. I was reading it at a nice pace, and then all of a sudden the book just kind of fell for me. I think it\’s because it\’s missing a lot of much needed showing. The author only tells us the main things that happen. I had a hard time connecting with the story and the characters. Like I already said, I couldn\’t connect to the story and characters, so it\’s hard to say if I really liked the book. I am a little curious as to where the next book goes. Maybe the things that fell apart for me will be something other than they are presented in this one. Because of the maybe\’s and what-ifs, I will give the next book a shot when it releases.

Let me first start with I have had to wait a few minutes after finishing the book to decide exactly what type of emotional roller coaster I just took a fast ride on. This story is amazing. The heroine is someone that is tough, explosive and extremely fierce. But then she met Marcus and her world is turned on edge. Her ability to function is lost in a memory, fear and mass confusion. Marcus is a character that you get all the feels for. He is an enigma that the mystery around him continues to intensify. You want to hate him…you want to love him and you are defiantly left with the thought of you want him to get the girl. But then you realize can he ever have her. Then you have Cody. Oh my gosh, I have disliked him in many of the previous books he was mentioned in but in this one you see more of a different side. He is hurting, he is afraid to love and yet he still has all the feel goods that let you know he has been through almost as much as Marcus. I know everyone wants Marcus to end up with the girl but I don’t want Cody hurt either. In fact right now if it was to end I want Delilah choosing Cody. I don’t know how Willow will pull this off without someone ending in major heartbreak because I feel they both will end up loving Delilah. The question will be how can she pick one of them or better yet how will Willow write it so the readers are not left devastated by Delilah’s choice or mad at Willow. The only insight I can give you is read this book but be ready…you will never ever be the same after. As I said it took me a few minutes to decide what to write and still I don’t feel I have expressed every feeling this book has left me with. Believe me when I say this book has left me with all the emotions that one can handle while reading a book. I absolutely feel this is one of the best books that Willow has written and that’s saying a lot because all her books are great.

Audiobook This Love Hurts by W. Winters

THIS LOVE HURTS starts with the first part being the prequel: DO YOU WANT ME. It is the hidden torrid affair between, Delilah, a prosecuting attorney, and FBI Agent Cody Walsh. Marcus is an invisible force controlling and manipulating from the shadows. It is made obvious that Delilah is the real love interest to Marcus. You know Marcus is only going to let Cody have her for just so long. Before he then will put an end to their hot love affair. This prequel is just the beginning. The Anti-Hero Marcus has a story that continues in the book. The man who hides in the shadows, while toying with other people\’s lives, comes out of the shadows to only become the shadow himself. We also learn he is a great kisser. There seems to be a love triangle between Cody, Delilah, and Marcus. The mysterious connection between these three remains a mystery. Marcus has been called a ghost, the grim reaper, the angel of death. She was off limits to both, but now caught in the middle. One thing was for sure, monsters where for real, and the one named Marcus was the worst of them. Yet, he wanted to be her hero, and the hero gets the kiss. Delilah had feelings stirring for one man, the one she should certainly not be attracted to, let alone love. She should not love either man, but the longer she stayed, she felt herself slipping. She feels like she has hit rock bottom. She is convinced that Marcus knows more about Cody Walsh and Cody knows more about Marcus. I hope that Willow Winters is writing really, really fast. Can\’t wait for the next book in the series: BUT I NEED YOU!

Audio This Love Hurts narrated by Desiree Ketchum Teddy Hamilton

This was my first book by W. Winters. I\’ve been wanting to read her books for a long time. This was released at the perfect time since I wasn\’t reading anything at the time. I was a bit confused by the way this story unfolded. It felt like I was missing a huge chunk of knowledge that had me feeling a bit lost. Now that I\’ve finished it and read other\’s reviews, I see that the huge chunk must have been any experience with this author\’s Merciless world. From the title of this book to the blurb and even the prologue, the love connection was supposed to be intense. I only felt like I was reading a romance in a paragraph here or there throughout the whole book. I felt sexual tension at times that was threadbare in its description. Basically the book was 10% romance (maybe) and 90% suspense. Now the suspense was pretty much perfect. It kept my attention while I quickly flipped pages. The suspense easily had my mind working hard to figure out what was going on and what each character\’s part truly was. Basically, I don\’t feel like my time was wasted. I\’m also determined to read Merciless, the first book in this world, and read my way back here from the beginning. I\’ve heard unending praise for Mrs. Winters\’ work so I\’m not giving up after only one book read.

This book is sweet torture! The suspense is killing me! I need more Marcus and more Cody! Delilah is caught between 2 gorgeous men, both with hidden pasts, and a story obviously filled with twists, turns, and plenty of drama! It’s so good!!
