A Squirrel’s Ascension (The Godking’s Legacy #3)

Great for fans of Virlyce\’s other works, we get to see how Lucia misunderstands, bullies, and artistically reinterprets her way to what felt like a decent conclusion. As usual a colorful supporting cast is dug up and dragged along the way, this time with Lucia rushing to save the Shadow Devil Sect (more accurately Softie) and getting sidetracked so badly she ends up half a continent away. On the way back we meet A quasi-Immortal Rainbow Phoenix, the Immortal Continents luckiest (both Bad luck and Good) bartender, enigmatic treasure seekers, and more expert combatants than you can shake a stick at. While Lucias gallavanting about you\’ll also be treated to the new and much tempered Ilya, whose quest to find independence (for herself and from Lucia) comes to fruition and be treated with the occasional cameo from the world\’s most adorable masochistic elfling. In short, if you\’re a fan, or interested in seeing through the God Kings Legacy, give it a read.

I laughed until I cried. This was one of the funniest books I read this year. Great characters, great action, funny moments, unexpected twists and turns, it has it all.

This series is catered to the gamer/anime subculture enthusiasts with a hint of dark humor. If you fit the bill, just fall for this review and read it. Outrageous dialogue, character transformations (Ilya), and powercreep combine to keep the series making you wonder what type of shenanigans Lucia gets into page after page. If you\’ve watched DBZ you\’ve basically got the plot. There\’s also bits and pieces about the world that could be expositioned on… but so what? This isn\’t about a concrete plot with twists and turns. This is about slaughter and acorns; it\’s fun.

The ending was very Lucia like as it it made zero sense to me. Well written but the ending ruined it for me.

Truly comic as always and another well placed addition to the irrationally rational series The value of articles of clothing and appendages have been maintained as a pillar of economical stability in very specific circles lol
