I know. I know. That one star is harsh. It really is! I get it. But you know what else is harsh? THE AUTHOR DESTROYING ALL RESPECT FOR GRAYSON IN THE HOME STRETCH.
I went all three books, in a single night! I was all in for this series. I was all in for these characters. First time I’ve read anything by this author, and they had me, man! I was totes about to make this a one-click author!
But, alas. Serious spoilers below. Keep reading to have the rug taken right out from under your feet here, people.
We finally get to the show down. We know that Grayson and Shiv are each other’s HEA… we read three books to be sure of it! It’s just a matter of how it happens, right?
So, Grayson takes a “break” from his relationship with Shiv when Celeste comes back on scene. Because he has to explore a relationship with Celeste. It would only be fair. I mean, he couldn’t possibly commit to either of them without dating Celeste, right? That’s his explanation. So Shiv is chilling on the sidelines, and Grayson’s spending all his time with Celeste. Cause, hey, he just spent the last several months boffing Shiv, so he knows enough about her already, he needs no further input from her to make up his mind. He just has to explore things with Celeste, so he can make an up to date comparison. SO HE CAN MAKE A COMPARISON. So, yeah, that’s a minor problem for selling this great romance between Shiv and Grayson. But, hey, ok. I’ll keep reading. That’s not enough to buck me off this pony.
At one point, Shiv begs, pleading and in tears, for Grayson not to do the horizontal tango with Celeste, while he is exploring the situation. Grayson later (not at the time of said begging), acknowledges her begging. So, and this is where it gets super fun guys: Shiv tells Grayson over the phone that she is not waiting on him, that she is breaking up with him. So Grayson goes over to her house, and makes out with her (which is, of course, all that Shiv needs to be re-committed 100% to Grayson). He leaves her apartment, feelin’ good about himself “with the satisfaction I was looking for”. Now, on this same page, he mentions that he should absolutely not be givin’ either Shiv or Celeste the business, that he needs to show them the respect of restraint while he is making his decision. KEEP THIS IN MIND.
So, that same day, Grayson is at his house, just hangin’ out. Celeste messages him, asks to come over. He says yes. Then he starts thinkin’ to himself. Just… Just read this bit. “I’ve had Siobhan in my head all day, so I need to clear my thoughts to focus on Celeste. It’s eight thirty p.m., and by the way she was talking, I don’t think she has any intention of going home. She’s definitely going to try to boff me tonight. … but Siobhan begged me not to boff her. If she found out I did, there is a high chance I would lose her for good. That’s only if she found out though. I may just need to boff Celeste to really find out the potential for her and me. …. I’m going to boff her.”
THAT IS YOUR ROMANTIC LEAD RIGHT THERE LADIES. And this is in the actual final hour for this series. This isn’t an early section, where the character of the lead is still being built, and improved upon. THIS IS WHAT SHIV IS ACTUALLY GOING TO SETTLE DOWN WITH.
And to be clear, he goes for it. He really does. He’s allll in for getting busy with Celeste. The action starts… and… Celeste tries to top him. Well, Grayson doesn’t like being topped. So he stops the action, and breaks up with her. Because he’s looking for a submissive. That’s why. That’s the only reason he didn’t betray Shiv. That’s literally the ONLY DETERMINING FACTOR FOR HIM CHOOSING SHIV OVER CELESTE.
I am so angry that I wasted so many hours of my life on this, and threw off my sleep schedule, and my workload tomorrow, only for the author to absolutely decimate the “hero” in the final act.

I must admit that this trilogy has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for me. In the first book I was unsure how much I actually liked Siobhan/Shiv, but her character matured some in the second book and I really began liking her. The second book was a twisted ride that left me breathless and waiting to read the finally. I had hoped that Grayson and Shiv had been through enough. I was hoping that the third book would consist of getting their lives back on track, Shiv finally graduating, opening her homemade products shot, Grayson taking her to Paris and asking her to marry him. I wanted some sort of conclusion to Vanessa and all of the havoc she had rained down on them. I wanted to know who was responsible for all of the crazy stalker stuff happening to Shiv. I didn’t get these things. Grayson and Shiv faced yet another obstacle trying to keep them from their HEA, in the form of Grayson’s ex. While I appreciated how dealing with this cleared all of the possible speed bumps in their future, Graysons initial reaction left me feeling a little cold towards him. So of all the things I was hoping for, I only sort of cot a couple of them. Shiv graduating and the beginning of their trip to Paris. The story abruptly ended at the beginning of their flight there. No proposal. No consequences for Vanessa. The crazy stalker stuff explained away like it was being swept under the rug. No store for Shiv. No peek into their lives 2, 3 5 years down the road. Just nothing. I must admit after investing so much time and energy into the trilogy, I felt let down.
One thing I did notice is that this last book had a second author added to it. I must say it showed. Especially in Graysons voice in the story.
While I am not saying don’t read this trilogy or that i hated it, I am saying this last book was a bit of a let down for me.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was an absolute low of the series for me. I was so excited to get Graysons POV and I just wanted to scream take it back!
He is not the man I wanted him to be. All he thinks about is sex and actually was primed and ready to go to have sex with Celeste even as he remembered Shiv begging him not to. The only thing that stopped him and made him realize he really loved Shiv was Celestes sexual incompatibility with him dominant side? For real? He wants Shiv to sit around and wait for him to figure out this thing with Celeste and then when she was in danger of cutting her losses and moving on (which she should have), he shows up to her house, kisses her, makes her horny, and then gives his arrogant little smirk knowing shell wait for him now. Hes disgusting. I literally despise him. He certainly does NOT deserve Shiv. This last book was TRASH and I feel like I wasted my time on this entire series.
