I loved this book! I was expecting a pretty standard book about goal-setting, which this book definitely is not. The book is broken down into 3 sections. 1) Imagine – Where, through various exercises, you get clarity on exactly what your idea of an exceptional life looks like. Throughout the book, you have the option to go to Jillian’s website and take additional quizzes, do additional excersises, etc., although I have to admit that I did not do that. 2) Believe – Where, through some self-analysis, you come to believe that you actually can lead the life of your dreams/achieve your goal/etc. Make no mistake; this isn’t something that you read once and then—poof!—you’re “fixed” forever. In my particular case, I uncovered a belief that was really holding me back. Self-awareness is powerful, and I can now take steps to gradually eliminate it. 3) Achieve – This is where some goal-setting/achieving strategies come into play.

All of this is written in Jillian’s style, so if you like her on TV, you’ll like how she writes. It’s an interesting blend of psychological and physiological science, psychoanalysis, common sense, tough love, and even a little feel-good/new-agey stuff.

Prior to reading this book, I had Step 1 and Step 3 handled, but never got to the point I wanted to in my life because I didn’t believe that it was possible. By uncovering the belief that was holding me back, I’m able to start believing a new truth. My belief was that my newly-published book probably couldn’t be all that successful because I’m a businessperson, not a creative type. I thought people would think I was crazy for trying something that was so different from my day-to-day work. Well, I got over myself and began sharing my accomplishment (book) with family and friends and everyone has been incredibly supportive. In fact, I’ve received such an overwhelmingly positive response that I’m starting to believe that I really can be a successful author. Like I said earlier, it’s not a quick fix, but I’m definitely on my way.

Whether you need assistance dreaming, believing, achieving (or all three) you’re sure to benefit from this book.

Unlimited audiobook streamming online

I have only seen maybe at most, 2-3 Biggest Loser episodes ever, so all I really know about Jillian is what I may stumble across while reading online news and episode reviews. I read a lot and over the past couple years I’ve really grown interested in psychology and self-help type books. One thing that always has irritated me is that you are bombarded with messages of PMA (positive mental attitude), inspiring quotes and most of those books I’ve closed thinking, oh yea here we go! Booyah! Only to crash and burn. Hell right now I am trying to reverse a 50lb weight REGAIN after losing 100lbs and vowing never to “fall off the wagon” only to have some stressful stuff happen over the past year and zero ability to manage the toxicity around me. It ate at me and my obviously shaky self-esteem and sense of self-worth enough that I gave up trying to lose more weight, I pretty much gave up on myself. I dove into a LOT more “intense” self-help books hoping for answers, guidance, direction in getting my head back in the game and not just going through the motions but all I found was the very stuff Jillian talks about in her book and in the video that’s here on Amazon. I’ve just finished reading steps 1 and 2 and I have to tell you, step 2 processes are harsh and felt a tinch brutal some times BUT it really made me aware of what goes through my head and more importantly, WHY. And as I finished up the end of Chapter 8 it’s a HUGE RELIEF to FINALLLLLLLY have a resource that tells you what you have to do and HOW TO DO IT!!! This needs to be a mandatory read. Powerful stuff. I’m also extremely surprised and impressed at how cerebral and well-read Jillian really is. Plus her writing style is very fluid and engaging and doesn’t bog down with heavy babble nor does it drone on. There’s a LOT of material in this book, a LOT of ground gets covered and it’s simply right there. And she’s right. The steps are VERY simple. However Simple =/= easy.

Audiobook Unlimited by Jillian Michaels

I’m still early into the book but I can already tell that Jillian knows what she is talking about with helping you to get back on track mentally. I listen to her podcasts and I have been doing her work outs for 3 years with 2013 being consistent for 8 months straight. She is a nutritionist, she has studied psychology (her mother is also certified therapist), she is a personal trainer and definitely a life coach to sum it up. This book is all about helping you understand why you do the things in your life that sabotage yourself and make you feel like giving up and she clearly lays it out in lamens terms. This is a great book that will give you the tools for you to prepare and take action on building a great life for yourself and doing so it will rub off onto those you surround yourself with given they aren’t the ones causing you mental/physical harm.

Audio Unlimited narrated by Jillian Michaels

After recently losing my 83 year old “pop” and turning 50 a few days ago – I thought what better time to take a second look at what it’s all about. My life is great, but my excuses and parts of my lifestyle seem to be getting old – even to me. Jillian’s book reminded me of many life lessons previously learned but put on the proverbial mental bookshelf. A better title for this book should have been “No Whining Zone”. Loved this book, added a fresh perspective from which to view my surroundings. For a women who has not turned 40, her life observations are that of a older spirit. Take no crap, give no crap – live life to it’s fullest. Jillian provides some clear “how to steps” on how to leave all the excuses we made to ourselves over the years at the bus stop. This book teaches you how to manage your baggage. I learned that my biggest obstacle is ME! Loved it so much, bought four more books on cd for my kids. I hope they get as much out of it as I have. Downloaded it on my i-phone – looking forward to my second, third and fourth listen. Can’t pick up everything the first time – especially at 50. THANKS GILLIAN MICHAELS!

Free audio Unlimited – in the audio player below

I first read this book about 6 years ago and often return to it when I start to lose focus of what matters.

Jillian pulls no punches. But she is also not just a melange of sound-bites and mptivational quotes. She is considered and genuinely seems to care beyond just the sale and accolades of branching out from diet and fitness.

No matter where you are on your path to happy, you will benefit from reading this book.
