3.5 Stars Mistletoe and Mr. Right is the second book in the Moose Springs series. It’s a slow burn, opposites attract, clean romance. I enjoyed this story. I really like this authors writing style. Her characters are great, well developed. Them vs Us. Residents vs Wealthy Tourists. This town has a big problem. They hate the rich tourists who invade their town, but they can’t survive with the influx of their money. Some have caved and cater to them, others actively try to keep them away. Lana and Rick don’t have much in common, except their mutual love for this small Alaska town. Rick is the shy, almost introverted pool hall owner. He’s divorced, living with his now adult nephew Diego who we met in the last book. He’s doing his best to survive and keep his business open. He’s kept to himself after his wife left him. Spending most of his time at work or home with his grumpy cat, and his little fashionista hedgehog. He’s silently had a crush on the beautiful, wealthy Lana since he first saw her. Lana is a powerhouse. Vibrant, confident and very much in control of each situation she faces. (At least from the outside) She is the moneymaker, the backbone of her family’s business empire. Inside she’s lonely. Tired of the travel, tired of dealing with her family. Tired of always having to be “A Montgomery”. She’s had her eye on Rick, but never acted on it. But she loves this small town. She’s going to do everything she can to save it. Even if it means buying up most of it. Overall a good story written with lots of humor. I loved the witty banter between the characters. Rick and Lanas night at the B and B was hilarious. I loved catching up with the characters we met in the first book. What I struggled with was the connection between these two people. There is a lot of flirting, a lot of internal dialogue about what they want to do the other one, I just didn’t feel an emotional connection between them. The other thing was the length. It was really long. It really slowed down in parts, dragged a bit. And she left the situation with her cousin hanging. Why bring it up and then not finish it? Frustrating. It’s a clean read, no sex, a little swearing. Some minor drama and angst. Dual points of view. No cheating. They do end up together in the end. It can standalone. I’ll continue to read the series. I’ve preordered the next book. Easton’s story.

I do feel bad reviewing this with such a low rating, but I was waiting for this book all year, and was cozying up to read it during the holidays, but it left me feeling…cold. It definitely wasn\’t as enjoyable for me as the first in the series, and I was hoping for some fireworks, but I found myself getting bored. I did love the premise of the story. I loved the idea of big rich business mogul, Lana, and small town sexy pub owner, Rick, being attracted to each other, but I felt like it was too easy. Like they fell into each other\’s arms too easily, too quickly. She was coming on a little too strong for me. There wasn\’t enough…cat and mouse, but they kind of just went straight for it, and then there wasn\’t much conflict. Sure, at one point, there was like that one incident, but it was way towards the end of the book and it lasted only a few pages. Remember, this is a big book. And for them to get together so quickly, it kind of doesn\’t leave much to get excited about. And there\’s that whole silliness about finding the \”Christmas\” moose or something. That storyline was barely explored, and it was meant to be the crux of the story! I mean, it was how they sold it to you, by putting it in the synopsis! And Lana has a really annoying way of speaking like an old old lady. All that \”dear\” and \”dearest\” talk. Ugh. I hate it. I think it was just way too long with way too many unnecessary details. I definitely enjoyed the first part more, and found the romance more believable than Lana and Rick\’s. I couldn\’t buy into Lana and Rick not being able to live without each other. Disappointing.

Review #3

Audiobook Mistletoe and Mr. Right (Moose Springs, Alaska #2) by Sarah Morgenthaler

Mistletoe and Mr. Right is a sweet, small town romance set in Alaska. Ever since I read The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker I’ve been looking for other novels that take place in Alaska and I’m so glad I found that in these books. There’s just something magical about the setting to me and I would love to visit the area one day! That being said, I really enjoyed this novel. Some parts were a little too slow for me, but when I get down to the bones of the book and everything it’s about, I loved it to pieces. Rick and Lana are complete opposites with her being the prodigal daughter of a billionaire family and he being just a small town guy just trying to get by. One wouldn’t think these two would work well together but I guess the saying that “opposites attract” is true! They were perfect together! If you’re looking for a heartwarming, sweet, and cleaner romance then this is the book you should be picking up! I recommend it wholeheartedly. ???? ? ????? ????? ???? ???? ? Rick was just the sweetest hero! He’s a bit shy, but that’s what makes him so endearing. I love reading about quieter men (I don’t always need an alpha!) and he was PERFECT within this role. ? The setting of the book (Moose Springs, Alaska) is vividly depicted within the story. Gosh, I felt like I was there myself and all I had to do was read words! If it were a real place, I’d gladly visit! Not only that, but it’s also a small town and I LOVE small towns! ? The book as a wonderful and uplifting happy ending. As a romance reader, I’ve come to expect happy endings in romance (it’s the norm of course) but sometimes I want something that FEELS different and this one did. ? Lastly, the animals in this book were amazing! From the Santa Moose that ruins the towns decorations to a cat called Roger who gives the stink eye and a hedgehog who likes Christmas sweaters! I loved them so much! ???? ? ???????? ????? ???? ???? ? Mistletoe and Mr. Right was a bit too drawn out. I don’t mind longer books but sometimes they don’t NEED to be as long as they are (like this one). I felt like some of the stuff in the middle was just a filler. ? I felt like some stuff was unresolved. I wanted to hear more about Rick and Lana’s future and what happened with the moose! Perhaps the next book will have a few answers… ? It wasn’t as Chrismtasy as I hoped it would be. ??????? ?? ?? Mistletoe and Mr. Right is the perfect book to cozy up with! If you’re sitting by the fire with a cup of hot tea this is the perfect book to pair those with! While there were a few pieces that were problematic for me, the story as a whole is a good one and it’s certainly worth the read! ?? ??????: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Review #4

Audio Mistletoe and Mr. Right (Moose Springs, Alaska #2) narrated by Elise Arsenault

As much as I was excited to return to Moose Springs I didn’t know whether I could possibly love this book as much as Graham and Zoey’s. I needn’t have worried if anything I loved it even more. We met Lena in the first book, The Tourist Attraction and she certainly made some waves. Lena continued ruffling feathers in here in her own book but it was really good getting to know her so much better. Rick was honestly a breath of fresh air. He wore his heart on his sleeve. I really loved that he was so willing to be honest about his feelings. I throughly enjoyed my time in Moose Springs again. I laughed, I cried and I swooned which is exactly what I want from a good book. I am already looking forward to the next one.

The tone of this story is much more serious than the Tourist Trap. I imagine it was a challenge to give Lana a love interest outside of her “crowd”. But the love of all things Moose Springs wins in the end.
