Vanessa Yu’s Magical Paris Tea Shop

I picked this up because of the title and the magical realism. I wanted something fluffy, but this was a little too silly for me. It was very cute, and I liked all of Vanessas family dynamics, but I had a tough time with the writing.

That said! Ive recommended this to a couple of friends because its easy and wholesome: it just wasnt for me.

Sorry. I wanted to like it. Didn’t. Felt like an intended quick read, quickly written. Cloying sweet and often unmotivated characters. I just needed something fun. This wasn’t really. A lot of descriptions of food that sounded somewhat nice, but …described like a travel log might. And the romance is all very pretty. Everyone’s nice looking. But no real meat on these bones.

Another magical , special and charming book by Roselle Lim. The twists and turns and delightful occurances were all great fun, hopefully Roselle Lim will be having more books out soon.

This book made me laugh, smile, and even cry. I loved it just as much as the first book, if not more. Vanessa’s story made me so happy, and I am so grateful to have read it. I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future!

I was hooked in by the first sentence…and didn’t stop reading until I finished the book! I love the mix of magic and the day to day. Besides…who can resist Paris!
