At the end of the second book of this series, there was a clear indication that we would see the third part very soon. There were many aspects of the story that needed proper attention of the author in the second part. Diana Gabaldon concludes in this third part what she started in Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber. Claire came to 18th century Scotland by accident but after coming to this era in time she got entangled in the love of a warrior. Jamie too started loving the outlander within no time and together they formed heaven for themselves among the barbarians of the time.

Being blessed with a daughter the couple thought that they had everything in life but Claire’s fears about the fate of her husband were never gone. In the second part, the outlander finally shared her story with her family and told her daughter how she ended up in this land. Claire at this stage of her life wants to know whether her husband will survive the upcoming war or not.
For this she moves in time to give a glance to the history books, finally, she gets the evidence that her husband survived but now she has to go and meet him. For the sake of one love, Claire has to sacrifice the love of her daughter who cannot go with her. There is an imminent threat that the traveler can get lost in different time zones so Claire must not risk the life of her daughter to meet the love of her life. Davina Porter ends the series in low voice but it has been a highly sentimental performance by the narrator.
