I LOVE Rick’s books about the south! Real, honest and humble. Nothing fancy smancy. My Dad was from Kentwood, LA (now famous as the hometown of Brittany Spears…ugh!) We would spend summers in the hot and humid town.
One aunt had ac, one didn’t. Guess which house we preferred? The stories he writes, I can relate to. Humble but proud people. Seeing To Kill A Mockingbird in Kentwood, in the 60’s, in a segregated theater…Keep on shoutin’ Rick, we need your voice to help us remember, the good and the bad..

Fantastic! I am a Northener but fell in love with Rick while hearing him read from All Over But The Shoutin’ many years ago. This latest collection is classic Rick! My copy arrived yesterday and I cannot put it down. Marvelous writing influenced by a part of the country I know little about but brought to life in his writing. Fabulous writer!!

I am a longtime subscriber to Southern Living. This book offered me nothing new or funny or inspiring that I haven’t already read in some form or other by Rick Bragg in Southern Living. Total waste of hard earned money. Just a non-edited effortless way of putting out another regurgitated book.

Love this author. Hes on the last page of Southern Living magazine and I turn to it before I read anything else. Being a southerner, I recognize the truth in his writing and often chuckle over it.

If you like Rick Bragg, you should like this. It’s a compilation of his newspaper and magazine columns about the South. I love his writing and these are good and mostly short pieces. If you want to read other books by Bragg Ava’s Man is one of his best as is, All Over But the Shoutin’.
