Whipped

Avery’s parents were killed ten years ago. Ever since then, she has put her own ambitions and dreams aside to take care of her younger brother. She works at an antiques store. She’s good at her job but has decided to endure dealing with an abusive boss until her brother graduates from college and becomes financially independent.

During a typical dreary day, a handsome man named Burke walks into the store. The attraction between Burke and Avery is intense and instantaneous. Burke has been obsessed with Avery ever since his stepbrother killed her parents. He has been keeping tabs on her and her brother over the years and decided now is his chance to get to know her. Even as he pursues a relationship with Avery, he doesn’t reveal his connection to her.

This book started off as promising but the relationship between Burke and Avery felt more awkward and uncomfortable instead of being sexy and romantic. The extent of the rage and anger Avery’s boss directed towards her was totally insane. The way Avery’s boss interacted with her and Burke made me think she had an undiagnosed personality disorder. It threw me for a loop. There was something about all of the relationships and interactions in this book that felt off-kilter.

I have to admit there is a curiosity factor with regards to reading the rest of the series. I wonder how far off the cliff these characters and their storylines go in the other books. I have a feeling this story is only going to get more unhinged the deeper you get into it.

I chose to give this work of art a 5/5 for everything it is and will be. I did a random search in the kindle store for a book on spankings, because this interests me. What I found is a wonderfully talented writer who now has a fan for their career.The story starts strong by introducing the reader to the world of Avery (the sweet one), and Margot ( the bitch). Then Burke (the stud) is introduced and we are all caught up in the how and why these 3 lives are intersecting. To me this is the perfect story, because in life it seems there are always the people that are going to want what you have, and if they cant have it? They will try to destroy your happiness. In comes Margot. She is the epitome of many women I have met in life, and I for one can’t wait for her to get her reward for her s***ty behaviour. She truly is a b%$#@! that needs to be shown who is the boss. Hopefully, by someone whom she isnt looking to be dominated by. The author has done a great job of laying out the playing field in this first book and after the description of the first sexual encounter between Burke and Avery I am quivering for more!!! This is a well written piece of literature and it is deserving of many wonderful reviews. It touches the dark places I have stowed away in my heart and mind without making me feel bad or dirty. I am glad to say I can read more of this intriguing story and then move on to other Lucia Jordan books!! Bravo Lucia! Best book I have read in a VERY LONG TIME!!!

Even though it was only $1 I felt like I wasted my money. It is not story. It literally ends at the point the stories problem happens. Which you them get directed to buy the other 3 sections of the story. So this cutt off happens 3 more times. Nope, I am out of here after book one acting like that and the author has lost respect.

It also needs a good amount of editing too. Lots of typos, miss spellings, and wrong pronouns used that makes the read confusing. Usually I can get past bad editing but not when it isn’t even a story to begin with, it’s an exert of one.

I was given this book -WHIPPED- in exchange for an honest review. As soon as I received the e-mail, I downloaded it and began to read. It took me approximately 35 minutes. Now for a synopsis: AS soon as Burke came into the shop, I was hooked. I wish more men looked like him. He was HOT. Avery was immediately smitten by his charm and looks but felt she was a nobody compared to him. Unfortunately, she had a boss who wanted him for herself and treated Avery as a servant with the ability to intimidate a police officer. This was a fast paced book with no fillers; i.e. how the landscape looked etc. I had no idea of Burke’s inner darkness until he brought it forth. I normally don’t like this type of romance but now this author has me addicted to the remainder of this series. I would have given it a 5* rating except for the lack of editing. The book needs further review by an accomplished editor. Nevertheless, you should read this book. It is exciting, enticing and is easy to read in a short lunch hour.

Initially, I thought this was going to be another 50 Shades. NOT at all! I love the direction this story was taking.
I really liked the fact that he actually followed her and her brother throughout the past 10 years after knowing the circumstances behind the death of their parents.
When I began reading this book I wasn’t expecting to complete it in one reading. But, I couldn’t stop reading … and was a little upset when it came to an end.
Now I’m eagerly awaiting to read the whole series.
Can not wait to tell my book buddies about the Whipped series after only reading the first in the series (Whipped).
