Damien Montgomery has been fighting against the influence and manipulation of various, powerful shadow organizations for years, but has always been a step or two behind. When one of these organizations strikes at the heart of the Protectorate, Damien is pulled back from the war to Mars where he works to unravel the mystery around Nemesis.
Is Nemesis an organization or an individual? What are their goals? What is their reach? Why are the members so fanatical?
Those arent the important questions. Maybe the question you should be asking is who built the Olympus Mons amplifier.
Another great Starship Mage story. Highly recommended.
I received an ARC for my review, and enjoyed to story so much, I purchased my own copy.

The Service of Mars audiobook in series Starship’s Mage
Man what a great book. I both saw that coming, and yet somehow, also didnt. Still trying till work out that contradiction.
This was a great addition to what is easily one of my favourite series. I love the characters involved. I think thats what makes this such a great series, strong interesting, likeable, & unlikeable, well written characters.
If you loved the other books I. The series then you need to read this one, urgently. Plot from previous books start to come to a head, so awesome.
If your somehow new to the series do yourself a favour, go back and read the first 7 books, you wont regret it.
Cant wait to see what comes next.

The Service of Mars audiobook by Glynn Stewart
Honestly … this is book 8 you are probably reading this review to psych yourself up to read this. Stop procrastinating on reading a book you will probably love! I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so just get this and enjoy it. Like so many of Glynn Stewart’s books this is a great read that might even make you a slightly better person.
If COVID has you with extra time or distance on your hand then this is a great time buy a new book that you will want to binge read all weak.
If this is your first introduction to the Starships Mage series then go get the original and start from there. It is a great series!

The Service of Mars audio narrated by Jeffrey Kafer
My favorite of Stewart’s characters is back, and the danger is darker, and deeper, and the duty harder. And frankly, that’s when Damien Montgomery, First Hand of the Mage King of Mars is at his best.
I’ll admit, I spent a good 10 minutes sitting there stunned after the first chapter, and I thought I was prepared for it. I wasn’t.
This is exactly the continuation I was waiting for, and so MANY long-planted seeds are finally flowering.
We finally get a better look at the Royal Family of Mars in an even closer, more personal way, while really getting an understanding of the awesome power of the Mountain of Mars.
Sidenote: Kudos *again* to Stewart for treating Des’ relationships with both genders as normal, and only worthy of note in who he’s dated.
Actually, I think this book might be the first time I’ve read the word ‘gay’ in one of Stewart’s books, and again, it was treated like it’s just a normal thing. (it’s not a *focus* of the book by ANY means. I just love the way he handles all relationships like they’re all of equal value.)

Even knowing what was coming (I’m a good guesser, and the author left a number of clues), the first part of the book is wrenching. Mr. Stewart is very good at drawing characters you care about, even peripheral characters, and he takes full advantage here. The plot is, honestly, somewhat predictable, but it moves the story along at a good pace and with enough open threads to keep us guessing as to the direction of the next books. This book is a bit less of a political thriller compared to recent predecessors and more of a detective story. I think this detracts slightly from the overall impact, but I’m a sucker for a complex plot, and Mr. Stewart may have decided to lean more toward the characters, with a result I wholly appreciate.
