The Power of Thinking Without Thinking
A GOOD READ
The book Blink is written and narrated by Malcolm Gladwell who is indeed an exceptional when it comes to academic research and storytelling. His books are engaging and enlightening.
Malcolm once said in an interview, “I would say maybe you should keep in mind that the possibility for misreading me, or my misreading you, is larger than we both imagine.”

From the title of the book itself “Blink”, like in a blink of an eye people judge and assess others without proper evidence. People make decisions faster like an eye and we unconsciously blink like the decisions we make. This book talks about how powerful our mind is and our judgements to the things around us.
Blink introduces six types of judgement people do.
The number one on the list is our first impression and sharp judgement. Impressions are good if they are positive but people make negative impressions too and that can lead to biased judgement. This book shows how important first impressions are, may be positive or negative. It is clear that people analyze things out of consciousness and it is the other way around when they are unconscious. Thin-slicing however involves our experiences when looking for a pattern in situations.
Quick and correct judgement are more likely to be negative one. But tragic impressions seem to have more negative effects and consequences.
Lastly, the one that is prone to committing mistakes in judgement is when people give too much information.
This book may not answer every question it arouses my brain as I read it but I have learned things I am careful with the impressions I give from now on.
Judgement is powerful enough indeed.
